Looks like a good deal, but check which maps are included before buying. Otherwise, budget for adding maps for your local lake/river, etc (if they aren't included).

Pretty solid deal, esp for a Kayak or something. If my Kayak was half decent I'd get this, but my kayak is a complete beater!

I'm in the market but my understanding is that Garmin's don't allow you to make custom maps based off Google Earth, etc. So if that is important to you, look elsewhere. For the majority of people this is probably great.

The 74sv includes costal maps by default. 73sv includes lake maps.

If you get this and add a 126sv would both costal and lake maps be accessible? From both units when networked?

Have always hated the menus and interfaces on Garmin stuff. Not sure I could make a change over.

Careful on this.
I believe the 74sv has the coastal maps and NOT the inland lakes.
The 73sv would have the inland lakes.
If I an incorrect please advise and I will delete.

Does this unit allow engine data on screen?

It does but at least for Mercury, the smartcraft connect gateway required on the mercury side was like $600. Other engine manufacturers might be cheaper. I looked into it for my echomap 73sv

Dang, this was a really good deal, but unless you have local store stock, it appears dead.

It may be worth checking back on. When the deal first got posted, it was "in store only" and I'm a few hundred miles from their closest store. It became available for shipping and I ordered one.

So, to answer some of the questions, the 94sv has the side imaging (3-in-1) type gt54 transducer. The GT56 is newer and seems to have some really strong improvements in side imaging and better detail at a distance.

The 74sv comes with coastal maps. I don't have a clue how good they are, but there is an SD card slot to buy additional maps and also to download maps to the device (again, you have to purchase those).

It has a touchscreen but if the touchscreen goes out, you're stuck with the 4 custom settings you can program (before the touchscreen stops working). There is no indication that the touchscreen has problems, but there doesn't appear to be a way to access the menus using buttons.

This is a uhd model, not a uhd2. It's also $300 bucks, so you're still getting an amazing value at $300.

Really tempting. I used to buy Navionics coastal charts on a tablet for navigation. But now they raised the subscription price to $50/year. So this will be basically free if I keep it for 6 years.

Only wish they have modern displays, instead of those 800x400 dinosaurs.

A lot of people (me included) find the menus and interface on these Garmin units much easier to use than other manufacturers. I have the inland version of this and find it quite easy to use. My only gripes are how overpriced the live transducer is, and I wouldn't mind having the larger screen version.
