It depends what you're doing. These are for taking off branches that are bigger than pruners/loppers can handle. If you want to chop down a tree, then you definitely want a chainsaw. I bought something like this for my small peach and plum trees and it's really the best tool for the job.

If you're looking at this thing and thinking, why would I need that? Then you probably don't need it.

Thanks OP. At this price, I'll see how well it works out before paying the going rate for a curved 7" Corona.

I just ordered a Silky BigBoy yesterday ($85). I think I'll order this Fiskars for comparison to see just how much better the Silky is for $70 more. And to use where blade damage is possible (cuts near rocks, dirt, etc.)
These go in my dirtbiking/mtb backpack to clear trees that may have fallen across the trail.

Isn't it better/easier to use a chainsaw?

These are usually to keep in a car/toolbox camping. It easier to whip this out to cut a handful of 5-6 branches than to get the chainsaw ready/carry it with you.

I have a silky big boy so I'd love to see a comparison with this

I have this and it works great. I like that it folds which makes it packable and even for just walking around, I don't hit things with the blade and cause unnecessary damage to things. You're not going to cut large branches with this, and the design doesn't allow for the best cutting force, but for small jobs this works great. Get a larger bow saw as well for bigger jobs.

I trust Fiskars. They have limited life time warranty anyways, so why not. Fiskars has been around for close to 400 years and owns world renowned brands like iittala, Arabia, Gerber. No reason to think they would cheap out on their own name brand.
