HDMI 2.0b in 2024 is a bad idea, and no USB 4.0 port

There is a beta BIOs from Asus that turns on USB4. https://rog.asus.com/us/support/faq/1049059/

As others mentioned, one 8GB is soldered and the other 8GB is a SODIMM. But keep in mind that it caps out at 24GB. Meaning you can only add up to a 16GB SODIMM. 24GB is more than enough for a laptop with these specs but some people may want more.
Reddit claims the limit is artificial, you can put a 32GB stick in too. YMMV

Anyone know Asus's return policy offhand? With the specs murkiness, I'd like to have the option to zip it right back to them if things aren't kosher.

I'm unsure if this model ever existed too, the model number doesn't exist anywhere else.

Upside is that it has the same resolution as the M1 air but at 120hz, and the rx6800s lays a smackdown on the M2 Max at productivity tasks (and gaming, obviously)
How's the build quality compared to each

Can confirm. Followed this very thread to extend my 6700S variant with an additional 32GB stick for 40GB total. Runs great; worth the upgrade.

Why stop at USB 4, I want to see Thunderbolt 5 on this $699 laptop.

Well, this machine is mostly plastic other than the lid and a panel on the bottom, I mean, some people prefer that some don't. Other than that this is best compared to the M1 Max 14 inch MacBook Pro.

This is .16 inches thicker, .2lbs heavier than the M1 Max MacBook Pro.
This draws a lot more watts by design, this has a 500nit matte display at 120HZ(the air is 400nit,60hz glossy), this has a webcam that is closer to the air than the pro, this has face unlock via Windows Hello, the MacBook Pro has touchID. This has more ports in general. A lot of reviewers really liked the keyboard on this, both have large glass trackpads.

This machine is way more repairable than either, you can upgrade storage, ram and wifi while every other part is installed by just screws, so no glue.

The Radeon 6800S has the same score as the laptop 3070. This is a very good deal.

Is there finally a way to oc or uv mobile RX GPUs? Lack of msi afterburner support has put me off in the past.

The chassis is actually magnesium that is painted, with that said it feels very plasticky but is stronger than plastic and has other metal properties.

Isn't this the model-year that has the issue with the fan noise? If so, my brother bought one, in 2022, and went through 4 laptops before getting one that did not have the fan noise. The fan blades were rubbing on something. I wonder if these are all the fan noise returns.
