$1/bag? The best I've seen in recent years is $2/bag and it comes once a year at both stores.

its not on sale yet in so, Conn, but even if it hit this price, it will be 25% more than last years sale price! NO covid now or last years and as bad as inflation is, i dont know of anywhere where it was 25% in one year--Im going to do a hard pass on this and put the money into a greener lawn--the more we keep buying at these over inflated prices the more the will keep raising them, and then when people finnaly stop, they will cut the price by 120% and make the public think that its a big deal

Just call a tree service company and they deliver free woodchips. Not as pretty but free and no chemicals.

This comes out to be about $34 per cubic yard. Last year, and for many years before that, it was $2 a bag or $27 a cubic yard. If I buy in bulk around me I can get it delivered for about $30 a yard. If you are buying a LOT of bags (13.5 bags in a yard), it may pay to call around before assuming this is the play

Yeah used to be $1/cu ft. Not that I ever bought this, I usually get from a nursery in bulk. Also the quality is VERY hit and miss.

They have various sales throughout the season. I've seen 3/$10; 4/$10; and 5/$10.

Yes it will probably be cheaper in a month or 3. Up to you if it's worth waiting or not over 50 cents a bag.

It probably varies by store, but ask if they have any ripped bags. They usually sell those at a steep discount.

FWIW you can also buy mulch dye [homedepot.com] and apply it. I used to apply mulch every other year due to breakdown but also fading - although I've not done it yet, I just might go the dye route when I don't really need more mulch, just a color refresh.

Ive used the "Colorback" brand. Pretty decent.

For those that are waiting for the $2/bag - I'm not sure that happens this year after all the inflation so I just went with this $2.50/bag. So far I've bought about 50 bags.

That one I linked was basically first google hit, but it seems to have really good reviews. Says it does 2400 sq ft which is basically 600 lin ft. of a 4' wide bed, all for less than $30. Assuming you already have a pump sprayer.
