Just a reminder for anyone who doesn't know, check out https://protondb.com for an amazing database of what works/doesn't work on the deck. Much more thorough than what's listed on store pages. (Many games listed as incompatible or unknown actually are 100% playable).

Counterpoint: it does not. It's actually a very thoughtful game that tackles its subject matter very well.

it was recommended that I pick up This War of Mine bc it's so profound and mind opening blar blar. it was like 15 bucks, and the reviewer had been good with his other picks, but not about this game...it really sucks.

I agree. I fell for the same bs plus I was able to score the entire game for $4. This game punishing you for trying to live! I put a few hours into and I haven't gone back. I play games for the challenge and to relax. I am not trying to play a game too close to life and where it feels like I'm working overtime for free just to get something done..

Once you get past the wow this is groundbreaking and its different.....and actually play the game it will just end up pissing you off. The whole point of this game is to steal from others. It's not like there's an alternative yet your people will become depressed and eventually useless because of it. Then you have nightly raids on your house and thats a game of chance. The kids in the game are useless and cry all the damn time. The payout on a nightly raid is a hit and a miss

I stopped playing when I entered the building where the rape occurred..I was done at that point. Especially when I read about it and the options you had to deal with part...

highly suggest those interested to look at the negative reviews first because they are pretty accurate on whats wrong with the game.

I loved Frostpunk. Like SimCity, but depressing.

Same. Redout is good too. Sort of like a 3D FZero.

SimCity was depressing - when you looked up and realized you spent the whole day and night playing the game. lol

I picked up Frostpunk just for the extra DLCs - I already had the base game on Epic and GOG (freebies), but have yet to play it. My backlog is sky high.

I'm pretty sure the "point" of the game is to show that war is pretty much a no-win situation for the average civilian, so the expectation of going into the game with the ability to "win" is precisely what is subverted, which is kind of the point.

I don't think the game is meant to be a light hearted experience and I can imagine it can trigger (not using that in a bad connotation) many negative reactions...which is part of the narrative. War is a lose / lose situation, especially for civilians caught in the middle. It isn't like Call of Duty when you deploy straight into a battle zone, fight for half an hour, half your buddies die in your arms, then you are high fiving 5 minutes later during exfil while pounding back beers.

Not saying This War of Mine is the same as Schindler's List but is closer in concept than your kick back and relax watching Happy Gilmore for the 80th time. Not all movies (or games) are meant to make you smile...or think.

Interested in this for the 40k titles in particular. I really liked Mechanus but GW titles are hit and miss in my experience. The fact that the deal includes all DLC makes it pretty enticing I gotta say. Anyone played these ones? Worth picking up or hard pass?
