This entry from Anker doesn't deviate from the pattern established by most of their AC power strip products: the listing under TÜV [certipedia.com] lacks either a surge protection listing (UL 1449) or an appropriate listing as a "current tap/adapter" (UL 498A - the UL listing you'd be looking for on any direct plug - as in no cord - one/two to three/four/six outlet expanders). A review for the product [amazon.com] highlights the lack of safety certification marks. A reputable device with appropriate listings will bear UL listing marks. Proper labeling is typically seen as those holographic metal foil labels or an integral part of the injection molding in the body of the device to indicate a listing certificate number and/or the appropriate standards. Allow me to link to a completely random but otherwise comparable product [amazon.com] I do not personally recommend but which indicates the UL 498A listing's applicability to this product form factor. In fact, most any basic one to many AC outlet adapter without a cord would fall under this UL standard, as these Home Depot [homedepot.com] and Amazon [amazon.com] listings illustrate.

You can find a better deal, and likely build yourself a product better suited to your specific charging needs, by just constructing something like this out of a more traditional power outlet expander and a USB adapter.

Every time I have wanted an outlet extender it has been because I wanted sideways or diagonal outlets. Not sure what the point is of an extender with only forward outlets.

I think it is funny the sizing picture compares it to a 1970s era Eisenhower dollar, which is near double the size of a quarter. I would wager most people under 40 would not recognize this short-lived large dollar coin from the 1970s.

Every time I have wanted an outlet extender it has been because I wanted sideways or diagonal outlets. Not sure what the point is of an extender with only forward outlets.

Stupid question but would these be of any actual functional use at an older home that does not have grounded outlets? I see a let claims to have a 7 point safety system to protect against over voltage, over current, grounded protection, and so on but not sure if this is actually effective using it on a non grounded outlet?

I went looking for surge protector replacements that are all aligned vertically (for side transformers) and was shocked at how this seems to not be a thing anymore.

Nope, it will not do anything on a non-grounded outlet. There's nowhere for it to dump the extra voltage.

I have two of these and I can never seem to get any amount of meaningful power out of them PD ports. The Mac charges slowly, the Ipad, the iphone. Did I get two bad ones of these or are you seeing the same?
