Oh, these Fiskars shovels are the best. And they come with a lifetime warranty. I am an avid gardener and we have a lot of clay and rock soil, so I put them through their paces for sure. Dug a huge drywell and a bunch of french drains. Almost every bit of our yard has been dug up and it used to be an old riverbed a long time ago, so a quarry's worth of rocks embedded in clay if you can imagine.

Super heavy so not good for repeated shoveling/lifting, it's one piece of metal so as others have said very durable because of this

If you're young and strong you won't mind the weight but you'll find the strength is overkill. You'll probably shuck a lot of gravel so take that into consideration. To answer your question, yes it will handle the most extreme situations.

These are pretty darn durable. I'm on my second. The first one lasted a good 5+ years of very heavy a use, I was breaking a $10 shovel every couple months before that and I wasn't going as hard on the cheapies...

While not indestructible these are worth every penny even at full retail.

Deeper holes? That's why we have a backhoe. 😁 Yeah, I know that doesn't work for everyone.

I am an archaeologist. If I am on a dig in some remote jungle I would be screwed if the blade broke. I spent the extra for the Fiskars Pro because although it is possible to break a blade it is far less likely. The less often a shovel breaks the better off the entire project will be. Been using it for over a year and it behaves like new. Barely a scratch and solid like a stone. Highly recommend for people that put it through heckfire.

I've had this shovel for 5 years. The handle has broken off from the shovel twice so far. Our soil is full of large rocks so it was abused a bit digging them up over the years. Both times it broke it was relatively easy and painless to get them to send a new one over. Then I gave the broken ones to a friend who ran a bead on them and they're 'almost' as good as new. Highly recommend

I have a razorback with fiberglass and it's great the handle has only flex in the metal shaft joint which rusted over the years

These metal ones i would not recommend if you leave outside or tend to dig in wet areas otherwise it will compromise these pretty quick After the paint chips which is like a few uses

I think some people spray ceramic coating or something too see if it keeps clay mud from sticking on it too much cause it can really be annoying anyways if you have to always interrupt digging by unclogging your shovel

I second the Fiskar's customer service. I broke the first one of these I got (stumps). They sent me out another with just a picture.

All that being said, my second has very little of the powder coat left. It isn't pretty but works just fine.
