I am an archaeologist. If I am on a dig in some remote jungle I would be screwed if the blade broke. I spent the extra for the Fiskars Pro because although it is possible to break a blade it is far less likely. The less often a shovel breaks the better off the entire project will be. Been using it for over a year and it behaves like new. Barely a scratch and solid like a stone. Highly recommend for people that put it through heckfire.
I also take mine on all of my jungle excursions! It doubles as a shield against native poison darts too.

Not for me, since Amazon ships to me for free and Target charges $6.

Thanks. I have had my eye on this shovel for some time now. My GF has a couple of shovels but none are really good. Great price, I have been waiting to pull the trigger on one of these.

I've got one. It's built well and strong, but it is not a great average shovel in my mind. The handle is abnormally heavy which gives it a poor balance unlike any shovel I have ever used. If you need to pry against roots and abuse a shovel, it's probably the right thing. If you just need to dig a hole in some average soil, I'd take a better balanced regular fiberglass shovel every time.

Super heavy so not good for repeated shoveling/lifting, it's one piece of metal so as others have said very durable because of this
While I don't find it super heavy, I completely agree that it is a poorly balanced shovel that I would only choose for durability being a main goal. I'd think the D-ring one maybe would imrove some of that.

$35 regular price at Ace which always has coupons. Just used one $15 off $30+ item which would have make this $20.
Where do you find $15 off $30?

A spade is a shovel, a shovel is not a spade.

I've been looking for a new shovel since my old one is looking pretty rough. Bought this morning at Target and dug out a stump this afternoon. Good shovel for getting through roots, and the large platforms on the blade were comfortable. Definitely not light, but not too bad if you're not moving dirt too far
