Found this in my quest to hoard all the datas, looks like a solid choice for folks from a speed/controller perspective (updates to the InnoGrit IG5236 controller this uses seem to have solved earlier complaints).

Not a screaming deal, but a better choice than comparably priced options, with speeds fast enough for the PS5 crowd.

The controller was problematic on many drives but has supposedly had firmware updates to fix the problem.

How does one get the firmware updates?

Also, single sided?

Plug the drive into the M.2 slot on your motherboard and DL the drivers from HP.

This 4TB HP was just $195 when I bought it in September so you might be right

Really? Is that a generic answer (as I could have guessed myself) or did you actually FIND the FX900 firmware on HP's site somewhere because it doesn't show up if you search there and no Google search finds it.

Also, it's firmware we're talking about, not a driver.

EDIT: After more searching, it seems BIWIN makes it for HP and the product page is here:
https://hp.biwintech.com/products/hpfx900prom.2/
Alas, no firmware.

That chart show a few drives above the FX900 (lots of Crucial PCIe Gen 5 T700's) and a few others, but by far, most SSD and drives in the chart are BELOW the FX900. I would not say the Passmark is particularly "low" at all.

It does not look bad overall for the price. Performance seems reasonable and the endurance is 2400 TBW.

I'm close to pulling the trigger on this.

Freaking flight simulator takes over 200 gigs alone on my current SSD
