Trollstore = an unofficial app store that allows you to install apps that are not in the Apple App Store.
There's usually a lot of tutorials for these things on YouTube or Reddit

I have recently had both the fire tv and apple tv. I settled with the $40 Fire TV 4k Max (recent sale) and notice no quality drop off in comparison to Apple device. In fact, I am thriving with the inclusion of the ability to sideload apps. I used a 77" Samsung S95c OLED for comparison purposes.
Typically they are all good
The appletv is better when you have an app like directv stream and are actually watching a 4k program. The others rarely get sound out of sync

TrollStore uses a CoreTrust exploit to sign applications with entitlements they would not usually have with normal sideloading. This allows the user to sign apps with higher privileges, essentially installing them as system apps, so they never expire. It's not a jailbreak, but does use exploits like a jailbreak. It even persists through reboots so it's the best way you could hope to sideload.
You use Xcode to connect to it over your local WiFi network
