25% off with MARCH25 coupon.

I ordered this myself, and it came in two days. Over $100 less than I could find any place else. If you are in the market for a spot ERV, this is a pretty good deal.

I didn't realize they made small versions of these like this. Do they make one to be mounted in the window? I'm not finding one. What would prevent me from rigging this one up to venting in and out of a window? The scenario is to use it where we have the cat litter boxes.

Look at a small company called Accurasee Mechanical out of Canada.

I also want to install this on a window. I do not want to spend money on re-ducting the entire home to install this. Did anybody come up with a DIY option to install this on a window.

What is the advantage of these? Never seen these before.
An ERV recovers most of the indoor air temperature and humidity, while exchanging air with the outdoors, so that it doesn't waste as much heating/cooling energy.

This particular unit is an all-in-one ERV that replaces the functionality of a normal exhaust fan. Normally, ERVs are a large unit that you install in a utility space and splice it into the central HVAC system (or run separate ducts).

Do these things filter out pollen and pollutants from the outside air?

I really do hate that about some domestic products. Many smaller outfits seem to be using high quality building blocks but the products honestly seem half baked and cost 400% more than other name brand products which are manufactured overseas.

FYI: There is a new version released that addresses shortcomings of this model. Not recommended to get this one at this price.

Just curious, what are the shortcomings, and what is the new model?

What I don't understand is why nobody else is making these easy drop in ERV/HRV units. I've been price watching this Panasonic for so long that now I feel like there's MUST be an improved model coming out at some point and am scared of buyers remorse when it does. Easily the only good price I've seen on it in over a year. Well done.
The new version is https://na.panasonic.com/us/home-...tilator... Seems to have more modern up to date styiling...

I put these powerful Panasonic fans in all my toilets. Bawooosh! All that nasty air and smell is gone in 60 seconds. I put one in my garage too to exhaust the fumes from my cars when parking. Very effective and far more powerful CFM than cheapo fans.

Thanks! The link didn't work, but you prompted me to search. Looks like new model # is FV-06VE1. Seems to be selling at same price as the FV-04VE1, in general. Supposedly a little quieter, "more stylish", higher MERV rating, quieter, longer warranty on the motor. Also manufactured in Mexico, rather than China. So, (North) American made!

One thing to note is that ERV/HRV systems are not particularly useful unless you have an extremely tight vapor envelope on your house. The point of these is to introduce fresh outside air and to recover the heat (HRV) or the enthalpy (ERV) energy so you aren't either (a) letting all your comfy warm air out in winter and introducing cold air, or (b) letting out all your comfy cool air in summer and introducing the hot stuff.

If you have an older sticks and bricks home, you are probably getting complete air exchanges regularly simply from all the leaks through your windows, doors, outlets, vents, etc.

Correct from the standpoint of wanting fresh air, but there are several advantages to HRV/ERVs depending on climate.

For example; this device is suited to be used instead of a bathroom exhaust fan. With a normal fan out will be exhausting air that is assumedly at the temperature you paid to get it to; which will in turn pull in cooler or hotter air from all of the air leaks in the home.

With an hrv/erv, you'll at least recover some of the heat/cold when replacing the air.

They also have an impact on humidity which can be important depending on your environment.

They are simple devices, but understanding if and why you might want one does require a little thinking.
