Would it kill them to add a sub output? Who wants to spend $250 for a 2.0 big fat full sized amp?

People with a turntable and 2 speakers, and want a receiver with wifi, an ethernet port, and a phono hookup, but no sub hookups. Yamaha is trying to make something to please people with those wants.

Thats why(not only) I sold my YAMAHA R-N303 and got Yamaha R-N800A.
Sound so much better plus sub out plus USB DOC.
Note, that you can hook up a powered sub to the "B" speakers out,but it wouldn't sound as good as it could. That's the way I use to connect ,when I had it.

I'm pretty sure for an extra $.25 in BOM they could have added a sub output and this product would have enormously greater appeal.

I don't see how adding a sub output would not offer those people those same features.

Maybe this is for people with 2 channel stereo system, which does not need extra bass

The Onkyo 8260 has been hovering around the same price and has more inputs plus a Subwoofer output.

Ridiculously good deal. Had this for about 5 years and it really is a jack of all trades. Never let me down.

I have the previous version of this, with even less features. I have a powered sub and I use speakers B for sub output. Works well.

EDIT: I got it for $45 from Bestbuy few years ago. Big Grin

If they charged MORE and added a sub out... yes I would purchase.

I got one of these for $50 years ago brand new. It was a price mistake at Best Buy that a slick deal user found. Glad I did, the price is way up.

Hook up to a sub like you do with vintage receivers without a sub pre out. Use same L and R speaker outputs to a sub's high level inputs. Alternately, use Speaker A for L and R, use Speaker B output on the receiver to the sub's high level inputs and engage A+B speakers on the receiver. Then use sub crossover. I run a 2.1 system with a $10 Energy ES-8 sub and a $10 Vector Research VR-2200A vintage stereo receiver with Phono, CD and Tape inputs (both thrift store purchases). The L and R are a pair of $25 Mission 760i bookshelves (Craigslist). Enough juice to bring the room down. Adding BT is only an adapter away. Needing WiFi might be the deal breaker
