There's a reason "air fryers" have taken off in the past 5 years when "convection ovens" have been around for a decade. The design with the fan on top makes a huge difference in terms of lower and faster cooking times.

Ah ok I agree that standalone is a lot better.
I will say tho, for basic stuff like re-heating fries, even the cheap ninja flip up toaster oven air frier I have now does a much better job than just the toaster oven.
I'm not interested in the best air frier, rather something that does tasks like that better than an oven without it.

Despite the many brands out there, only a handful of them are actually manufacturing them. As someone who's used half a dozen "air fryer" types, the physical design of the cooking components is all that matters. Any air fryer with a fan on top will be amazing, a fan on the side is a half-baked product, but a traditional "toaster oven" design with the fan on top is the best of both worlds.
More money does not beat physics.
