Is this good for the iPad? Apple pisses me off sometimes with their 64 GB storage...
Sometimes? Apple has perfected the art of price gouging and tries to make people think they're somehow "elite" by using their over priced products. Unfortunately it's the opposite in reality.

Apple sells 65% sizzle, 35% steak......

Back to the card. This seems like a decent deal for 1.5TB

Who else wishes their phones still accepted microsd cards?
That's why I'm sticking with my S20 ultra that takes sd cards. Almost 2TB of storage (512gb internal) available and never have to worry about memory being full. Wish they would bring back external sd cards for phones....

How is this even possible?
The first 1 TB microSD cards [anandtech.com] appeared in 2019 and used 96-layer QLC NAND.

If anything, the industry has dragged its feet getting to 1.5 TB and 2 TB as the form factor has started to lose popularity (smartphones dropping microSD, CompactFlash taking off in cameras, and the failure of SD Express).

By now we are already starting to see NAND with over 300 layers [techpowerup.com] and much higher density per square millimeter. There is probably no technical barrier to making a 4 TB microSD card today, other than the fact that anything over 2 TB needs to use the new SDUC specification, which is currently supported by no devices I'm aware of. We will at least witness the arrival of 2 TB cards as the final choice for devices like the Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, and other gaming handhelds.

As the cards get bigger and bigger, I just think of how much data that can be lost when the card randomly fails!

Yes, they are, but the cost is $200-$230 and I doubt the prices will drop to $0.06 per GB any time soon, i.e. in one or two years. Plus, to reach the advertised speeds, you would need a special USB reader optimized by the manufacturer for the particular card.
Got any more info to share? I know about the AGI cards revealed in January, but for now those are still vaporware.

I wonder how reliable this is instead of using an external SSD for video/mp3 storage and usage

My phone still does but it is annoying to use because the way Android works nowadays. I can move certain apps to SD card but after app update they get moved back to internal storage. Not all apps support that feature either.

micro-sd card and ssd all use NAND, depends on NAND quality..
But SSD usually has better heat dstribution (means less over heat), that is one of the reason why micro-sd not fast as SSD and easier to fail...

At A1 speed, I think it won't generate much heat. But kinda useless for VIdeo processing (like editing video).

If for storage, I think it is good. Just take time to copy file to this micro-sd card and make sure not overheat.
