I have this and it works great.

They do not have to be rated for the full weight of the vehicle since you will only be using them to hold up the front-end, typically. Yes, the front is the heaviest for most non-electric vehicles, but three tons is a lot of weight and the stands are tested to hold double their rating. I own the 6-ton rated one and it's great for high-clearance and heavy vehicles (the 6-ton are taller and have a wider base). For low-clearance vehicles, they kind of suck tho (too tall).

These are good, I bought them last time they were on here. Had my Subaru Forester on these for 2 weeks while I was replacing the transmission, everything stayed solid. I'm definitely a big fan of the locking pin as well.

I've been using these for years, however the part that holds the car up is thinner than torin. They work, but they aren't the ones I trust with the heaviest loads

Is there anything that can lift more? I don't think 6 ton jacks would support OP's mom

Weight of a Lincoln Navigator: 5854 lbs. That's less than 3 tons. Unless you drive a tank, 3 ton is sufficient for perhaps 90% of the vehicles on the road.

Couldn't have said it better! These 3 ton absolutely maxed out would barely get the tires of my Silverado off the ground, and I don't feel comfortable running any jack fully extended. 6 ton is the way to go for bigger vehicles!

For those in the market for 6 ton jack stands, I highly recommend U.S Jack. They're pricey as all heck, but the quality and welds are superb, and I've been really trying not to skimp out on safety related equipment these days after the whole Harbor freight jack stand recall a few years back. Those vehicles are heavy and I wanna make dang sure I can trust my stands.

Also another note for folks, jack stands are rated as a pair. I used to think *each* stand was rated at the given value but it takes two to tango 👍.
