I tend to stick with 3M because some of these store brands kinda suck. How is the staples one? The Home Depot one is pretty awful and tends to be difficult to work with. Bought it once and never again. Not worth the frustration.

It gave me an extra 40% off for doing an auto-restock order. Seems similar to Amazon S&S. Came down to $5.39 per pack. Ymmv?

The auto-subscribe option appeared on the item page once I logged in. I couldn't find the one-time purchase option, so I ordered the subscription for $5.xx.

Went to the order confirmation page and it showed $9, so I cancelled.


Only then did I realize the $9 was for future subscription deliveries. Went to the order history and found that this order was for $5.xx after taxes. What I cancelled was the subscription. It was an odd UX.

This is a good deal. Thank you, OP, et al.

The 99 Cent Only store usually has packing tape for around a buck or so each. It's thin tape, but it's adequate and does the job. I've mailed probably hundreds of packages with it.

Got the $5 autosubscribe too, they have a option for a 1 year renewal, which is way out there so I might forget about it!

I had staples tape ages ago, it was thin and no too sticky, perfectly fine for sending amazon packages back when tape was needed, seems like ages ago. And UPS store required tape and forced you to buy a little roll for $2. Remember? They were terrible.

At 3 mil and heavy duty, and no future amazon tape requirements, I'm looking forward to my $5 investment "sticking" around for years to come Smilie

Thank you for clarifying this. I ordered 11 packs for the subscription, small business owner here, and was just about to cancel because my order seemed to reflect close to $100. Followed your directions and see it's actually about $55 for the first deliver. Thanks!! Phew. Almost canceled it.

Does anyone have firsthand experience with this brand of tape? Does "hot melt" mean I need to heat it in order to maximize its adhesiveness?

If you read some of the 1-Star reviews on Staples product page, they say this tape doesn't stick very well to cardboard boxes. Yes, I realize it's biased because it's complainers who are the ones most likely to leave feedback, but that seems like a very specific and consistent complaint. Maybe it's because they're not heating the tape during application?
