It was around. It was called a MagnetPull. Used to use it to carpet and wall fish low voltage cable 15 years ago. You can use copper wire to attach them to the eyelet of glow rods, that way you can pop a hole in the attic top stud, throw the rod w/ magnet down inside the wall, and start wheeling the wall to fish it down. I started using glow rods only after i got better. The magnet roller always marked up the drywall.

Its all fun and games until the magnet drops inside the wall.

Jesus, where was this product 15-20 years ago?! This would have made my life sooooo much easier.

Now, I just can't justify it, but damn, Gina. Beats a fish line 6 ways from Sunday.

The Magnetic Wire Puller from Klein Tools quickly and easily fishes wire and cable behind finished walls or enclosed spaces. Connect wire or cable to the flexible stainless-steel leader and rare-earth block magnet that make up the in-wall unit. Simply maneuver the magnetic hand-held unit over the outside of the wall allowing the strong, rare-earth magnets to provide great hold for easy wire pulling or fishing.

Seems uneccesarry and not as highly rated as some of the competitors I just saw on YouTube …. But it is late and it seems like a good enough option that works best in certain pulls, but not all pulls.

Do not pull enough wires to justify this purchase but it seems the job would be easier with this. Very curious what these "rare earth magnets" are

This tool has been useful to me, I've used it to snake romex through interior insulated walls, sometimes gets snagged up but has worked well. Rare earth magnets meaning neodymium. They're incredibly strong, I'd keep my fingers away unless you wanna get pinched. There's a nice storage case that's pretty indispensable to the kit. Fish wire works too but sometimes it's nice being able to just work from one side rather than guessing where the stick is going. I'd have both on hand jic and you'd be pretty set.
