Most of the homes in my neighborhood are two physician families, average household income in here is probably half a million or more, no one gives a damn about gas prices, especially since they are generally written off anyway. My monthly fuel bill is like $150, why on earth do you think that tiny amount of money would be a reason for me to run and get an EV? My utility bills in the winter are about $500 and my property taxes are almost 4 figures a month. My house insurance is like $350 a month but yeah that reduction in a fuel bill by buying an EV, that's going to make all the difference. 😂 If I switch to an EV I should be able to charter a yacht or jet like I have always want to do.
Not sure where you live, but in certain parts, EV are the opposite and many rich people have them as a status symbol for the high end ones.
2 things aren't debatable. It's much easier to come home and plug in your car VS going to a gas station once a week. And EV are faster accelerating cars. Most rich people are stupid not to have at least one EV in the household in certain parts of the country

LOL, Waiting for the rest to follow suit so the industry can focus on advanced Hybrid and Hydrogen tech. This Battery tech is a few decades away if that. They need to find a replacement for strip mining in Africa to make these "GREEN" car batteries.
Agree. Advanced Hydrogen will ultimately be the scaled solution for vehicles, and next generation nuclear and renewable will fuel it's production. Huge demand for hydrogen in reductive biomanufacturing that utilizes greenhouse gas as a feedstock. Toyota is going all in on hybrid and hydrogen.

Tesla did a study on this very thing. The reason Tesla does not swap batteries, is because in their study, the majority of people would swap their batteries in 3 minutes, then park the car and walk inside and grab a drink, bathroom, etc. By the time they came out, the people had taken 15 mins on average. This is why Tesla shoots for 15 min charges as the golden number.

But charging will be getting faster very soon regardless. Nio is rolling out its 900V architecture which adds 150 miles in 5 minutes.

https://electrek.co/2024/03/27/wo...rolls-out/
If charging times were consistently 15 minutes (or less in the future) people would consider EV.

As it stands, it can't be met. Even at Tesla super charging stations, 15 minutes to 80% is only possible if you are the only one charging.

If you are charging, and another Tesla pulls up and uses the charger next to you, charging speeds drop to level 2 speeds.

Power grid (at least in CA) can not handle super charging stations

Theoretically, 15 min or less is possible. Realistically, going to need billions of Dollars and decades before super charging becomes the norm

Until then, battery swaps seem the best?

Unless Toyota/Panasonic makes break through in solid state batteries. If that happens, I'll jump on the EV hype wagon

Guys do not buy this. Fisker is about to go bankrupt. There is no more investment money coming in this car will receive no support due to parts not being made for it anymore within the next two years.

At 38,000 you were better off getting a Tesla model Y after the instant federal discount at $36,000 . Also also a use 2021 to 2022 model Y can be had for right at 30,000 if you check their inventory section of their website.
With a model three , a 2020 to 2022 model three can be had for under 27,000 on the website just check

Im still very confused why the series hybrid vehicles are not taking over? the ones that have only electric drivetrain, with smaller batteries, and a small ICE engine kicking in to recharge battery? like Chevy Volt.

Curious how many EVs you've owned and which models.

50% of Lithium mining comes from Australia and it's better for the planet than

1. Ships transporting oil using heavy fuel oil.
2. Oil spills polluting the oceans and land
3. Oil refineries pumping smog into the air
4. ICE engines wasting 70% of gasoline's potential energy as heat

There are problems with EVs, like the fact that batteries are prohibitively expensive to replace when they wear out or recycling needing to improve, but "strip mining in Africa" isn't one of them.
How do you think lithium gets from Australia to its destination? Sure isn't by magical unicorns. Oh . It's on boats being powered by petroleum

Process of refining batteries.. uses petroleum

Oil need to pump smog into your delicate lungs, so it can be used to generate electricity

You can Google, are used ev barriers bad for humans and environment.

Batteries are recyclable. But no one will do it because it's a net loss, cheaper to make new ones.

Just going to ignore all EV is made with the help of evil oil? Unless EV can be made, powered by, disposed of without petroleum products, it's not benefitting anything other than musks bank account

Rivian cars are super nice. Of all the EV makers, I want them to survive. Nice interiors, cool accessories and gimmicks, design is not ugly,

Wish I shorted when it was $100+... Would have been a fun ride down to being bought out of delisted
