Roughly 2/3rds of americans, right now, live in detached single family homes or similar.
Add in folks in duplexes with garages or driveways, apartments with garages, apartment buildings with charging options, and work charging options.... and you're pretty near to 80% of the US population having charging options at home or their workplace today
I agree covering the other 20% will require more effort--- but given US market share right now is under 10% (it's expected to hit 10% this year) and 80% of the market COULD charge at home, it's not really an issue right now....and there's plenty of time to cover that remaining 20% before it becomes one.

If you think that every parking space at apartments and condo garages will have a charging station, I will smoke some of that?? Did you know that 24% of the residents on the state of New York live in in an apartment? Where is the power going to be generated? When was the last time a major power plant (Natural Gas, Nuclear , etc.) was built in your state? It will take decades just to modernize our current grid and powerplants. Solar panels sound great till you need a new roof on your house, ask people how that went? Roofing company's will not guarantee your new $25,000 and up new roof after your solar company drills holes in it.
Lot's of things to work out, but lets not worry, GOVERNMENT mandates will save us all!

If you want an EV, great go get one. Leave everybody else alone. These EV zealots remind me of the vegan and PETA nutjobs. They have to foist their beliefs on EVERYBODY.
.... presumably from those goalposts you just moved by ignoring my actual words and trying to find something else to spread FUD about

Same with your reply.
I never said anything you claim I did- and you ignore what I actually wrote.
Roughly 2/3rds of Americans live in detached single family homes or equivalent.
You only need to include the portion of apartment and condo owners with garages and driveways to get that up to about 80%.

So that means... just under 80% don't
Kind of like I already mentioned.

Ah- the nonsense WE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH POWER FOR EVs FUD.
This was already debunked a couple pages ago my dude.
EVs generally charge at night- when the grid already has the most spare power available.
And the amount supply needs to grow as a lot more EVs come online is perfectly reasonable based on historical grid growth.
Again this is all covered in detail, with math, facts, and historical data, by the engineering explained guy right here;
Also isn't most pollution caused by tire wear and EVs being heavier cause even more of that ?
...no?
Seriously where do folks get this trash info? "most pollution caused by tire wear"??
Ah, sorry- I see where you got it... some politician in the UK said it, tabloids there reprinted it-- and 2 years later- despite having been debunked- folks are STILL repeating it.
Scroll down to the "Debunking the "EV Tires Cause More Pollution Than ICE Vehicle Tires" FUD" section for the specific, honestly hilarious math errors that led the original guy in the Uk to claim this was really a thing..... but the tl;dr version is the math the UK guy used would only be correct if EVs ran tires bald every 1300 or so miles. Which, of course, they don't. My OEM Tesla tires lasted about 25k miles (so ~20x less 'pollution' than the UK guys thing would suggest)-- and is about how long my original OEM Lexus ICE tires lasted too... in both cases I replaced them with better tires that are rated to last nearer 50k miiles--- so ~40x less pollution than the UK guys thing suggests... and in both cases no different than the same tires on a gas car. Plus EVs go through brake pads far less so net "particulate" pollution would still be better on an EV than a gas car.

The true sad story is everyone buying EVs. I don't think people realize batteries are a wear item that you will have to pay a ton of money when they eventually wear out. Secondly, the fact that people buy a car that requires a user account login to drive is beyond me.
Every single component in a car is a wear item that you have to pay for when it wears out.
Then your money would be going to provide the Terrorist state of Russia with Star link in their genocidal war against Ukraine.
Most of the electronics you use is made in China which terrorizes Asian countries and grabs contested lands, installs military equipment there and drain it of resources leaving it as polluted waste.
Every single component in a car is a wear item that you have to pay for when it wears out.
Not only that, but check the stats on Ev's that are totalled after an accident. No one is willing to certify an EV Battery after a repair due to the liability. Of course we also have no real plans on how to dispose of all these batteries which are laced with toxic chemicals....
