I'm guessing to hook it up to a line from the house. Not have to deal with propane tanks, etc
this is the one i own (2149), bought from TSC. one of the few that convert to NG. easily converted it using blackstone's conversion kit [amazon.com]

I always heard natural gas does not burn as hot as propane.. I have not looked at it myself though.

Also, switching out a propane tank is pretty easy, plus a tank on my 36 inch last for a surprising amount of time, and I cook a few times a week on it.
Natural gas has about half the BTU per cubic foot of propane, but it's cheaper so it cancels out the difference. If you already have a NG hookup available, then it may be worth it. If not, stick with propane because getting a NG line installed for this purpose is fairly expensive and not something most people are comfortable installing themselves.

I am waiting for deal on 28" model - 36" is too big for my needs.
but if I dont find one - Im likely going to pick Costco version at 340 - gives hinged top, cover and some extras and costco return policy.

How does this compare to the Sam's club version? Also a 4 burner, and also gets to 60,000 BTU. Sam's has theirs on sale with a soft cover for $200, so trying to decide between them. Never had a griddle, but loved the burgers and such my neighbor has made on his a couple times. Have a Weber charcoal, but we love the way the burgers come out on this, and I know I'd be making breakfast foods on it as well. Thanks for any advice!

I've been cooking on Blackstone griddles for many years. I don't have any firsthand experience with the Member's Mark griddle that Sam's Club sells, but I can tell you that I wouldn't buy it solely based on where the grease drain is located. I really can't imagine a worse spot for it. Additionally, I don't like the concept of a drawer for catching the grease (but that's just a personal opinion).

The cover is too tight. Not sure why they designed it this way. I need more room, so we can cover to slow cook if needed.

Blackstone suggests not to cook with the cover down for more than 5 minutes. If you need to slow cook something I would use a dome or different grill/oven.

Thanks. Does dome provide any specific value vs flat?

Is there enough space to close the flat hood (to melt cheese etc.) for 5 mins?

You should not cook with this lid on for any amount of time. You can cook with the hinged hood/cover down (although I'm not a fan), but not the removable lid.

Get a basting dome - easier to use, easier to clean. Also works well for steaming on the griddle.

Does anybody know which cover would fit this specific model? Every blackstone cover that I've seen, the description says it doesn't fit this one.

I've been waiting for this to go on sale but didn't want to wait for black friday. Ended up buying it and I have mixed feeling so far. The build quality is all over the place. There's some factory scratches/blemishes and some of the holes do not line up very well. The shelves feel very flimsy and I worry this cover could blow off. Hopefully, all that will be a non issue once I cook on this bad boy...

Never used a griddle grill in the past. We mostly grill chicken wings and drumsticks- would this be good for it?
