Great card. I use it to transcode my 100 TB h.264 Bluray Pr0nz remuxes to AV1 and free up a ton of space and with minimal quality loss. The encoder saves so much time and electricity vs SVT-AV1

I don't know of any systems with integrated graphics that gives you ports for 4 monitors.
Not everyone plays games and watches YT all day -- I've got clients that use 3-4 monitors in their office setups. This is an inexpensive but still relatively decent GPU to accomplish that.

That's not at all how I read his response.

Most integrated GPUs, which you had suggested using instead, only have a single monitor port. There are many use cases, office or home, where people would want multiple monitors. Even if they dont require more horsepower than an integrated GPU provides, they wtill need more monitor ports than iGPU has. Yes, you can chain display port, but that requires more expensive monitors. This a380 is indeed a cheap option to drive up to four monitors, plus offers some moderate graphics processing and hardware encoding/decoding.

But now I get the feeling I may have just fed a troll.

Is this a good card for a two monitor setup? I don't game, just need a discrete GPU since my processor doesn't have i-gpu (5950x).

I use my A380 mainly with my 4K monitor but I have a second 1440p monitor, and the GPU handled both ok for normal PC use.

Almost bought this yesterday for a 3 monitor (1080p) setup for office stuff. But there was an ASROCK model that was thinner for $10 more and I wasn't sure about the Sparkle brand so I bought the ASROCK.

Should be a decent card for multi-monitor use, right?

What have you been using for GPU?

Should be fine for office or workstation use. It has hardware encoding for AV1 and H265. I believe it will drive up to four monitors at 4K, but not positive. I know that it will only go into low power mode with a single 4k monitor, or dual 1080p. Any more than that, and it could idle as high as 30-40 watts, though t hat's for the 580 and 750, so the 380 might idle lower that that even without low power mode. Supposedly it will play just about any game, though not particularly quickly - though I do hear good things about XeSS.

I was close to buying this card, but ultimately decided I'm holding out for a deal on the 580 since that seems to be a nice bang for the buck sweet spot for content creation and casual light gaming.

Whats the amd equivalent? A 570? I would hold off unless completely necessary for some reason.

Do you get any weird stutters watching Youtube? I was getting frame drops trying to watch 4K on the iGPU of my i7–12700k and was wondering if it was an Intel problem or an iGPU problem. Everything's fine when using my discrete GPU

Tempting. I'm hoping for the low profile one to pop up for 80$. This would be cool to enhance some programs I have that can take advantage of additional decoding and encoding and av1

Yes. YT videos suffer black spots or frame drops when watching, but I don't think it's an A380 issue. My video playback with VLC and using my video editing program is flawless.

Whut kind of power supply do I need for a card like this? What would be a a good use case for this card other than playing games? I use Blue Iris for survelliance cams. Any need?
