Gerber has really went downhill since they were bought buy Fiskars a while back, they used to be one of the best and now it's 99% chinese made bottom of the barrel Bear Grylls junk.

Wow, what amazing advantages did this overpriced utility knife give you v.s. a random say flat head screwdriver in this situation? 😂

I don't think I'll ever forget watching an episode of bear grylls, where he is in the midst of lava flows. And he's telling the camera that you have to be careful about where you step, for being burned or whatever. And then he proceeds to leap over a lava flow into a section... I can't remember if he acted like his feet were going to catch on fire at that point.... But I do remember And I thought to myself yeah that about sums him up.

On the other hand, my Milwaukee utility knife Plus screwdriver, is much more useful in my opinion. I mean you actually have that screwdriver. And you have a knife. And it's not cheap pathetic falling apart.

I haven't actually owned this one, but every other Gerber products that I have broke quickly... with the exception of one night that I kept on my keychain, until it broke like 7 years later...

I have one and I love it. Only grip I have is that the design didn't think to male the lanyard hole into 1/4 hex so that it fits standard bits

Bought the smaller version that uses the x-acto blades(Multitool and Paracord Blue). They used some bottom of the barrel glue to hold the entire internal mechanism together. When I went to replace the blade using their "tool-less" replacement method, the internal mechanism just snaped off and I ended up with a paperweight.

Unless you absolutely need a pry tool and bottle opener in your daily carry, you're better off with something like a Workpro Utility knife. Most people don't need the gimmicks.

Met Mr. Gerber at the factory some forty years ago. True gentlemen that loved his work. I'll always remember the worker honing a survival knife in a machine the size of a fridge. Man had skills... Enjoy

If you want an EDC prybar screwdriver, I think the Gerber Shard is a better fit. It's almost 1/3 the price and smaller/lighter. It works with Philips head screws, too. Plus it's just a chunk of metal so it's nearly indestructible. The bottle opener takes a little getting used to because you have to pry and roll, but it does work.

HD has the FASTBACK 6-in-1 Folding Utility Knives with General Purpose Blade Model # 48-22-1505 on sale currently at $14.97. It's my EDC, love it. I'd get that over this.

I have a few Gerber chefs/cooking knives from ~40 years ago they are among my most favorites. Over some of the popular brand names I have. They don't make the Gerber's any more.
