Woot refurb could be an Amazon return? I don't trust Amazon returned items who knows what someone did to the computer or how long it was used. I don't know about this one. Too much risk for me.

I have two friends that that M1 Max MacBook pros and have had all kinds of issues with WiFi. I'd stick to M2/M3..
Impressive (both the specs and the price) but this is can turn out to be a 3 year old, heavily used MacBook including battery degradation. It's a gamble, but for someone might be worth it. Best thing is 90 day satisfaction warranty which gives you time to fully check it out.

3 year old? I thought this was an amazon return. Amazon return policy is 30 days?

For this Woot listing in particular, there's no telling where it originated from. It could be some company lease return!
Anyone who is considering buying this should compare it to standard used pricing via ebay/Swappa, etc. So it's still a good price @ $2200 for 'used', but it's essentially just that.

If they were <30 days old then they'd have Apple Warranty, right? And in less than 30 days, the original accessories are broken or lost?
Who knows where these are from -- I didn't read they were Amazon returns. Plus, does Amazon even sell this model brand new?
They might be in great shape, but the disclaimer about the battery being better than 80% health has me worried these are well older than 30 days.
I work in IT, have a lot of huge clients, and I don't think I've seen a Macbook in the wild outside of solo lawyer practices in the last 5 years.
You'd be surprised. I've got a client who does professional consulting and everyone gets a choice between Mac and PC laptops, and by far, the majority chooses Mac.

(Just to be clear, this isn't a Mac vs PC comment)
What type of consulting do they do? Is there a field where Macs are better suited for the software? Or is it more of a "sync to your ecosystem" type thing?
Macs used to be the big thing for video editing, but you can do that on anything these days.

It's probably a matter of cost. When I was an ED at a nonprofit, the idea of getting everyone Macs would have been silly given their cost. PCs will have lower cost to performance ratio, but they sure keep you IT guys busy, and have nowhere near the battery life.

Leadership consulting. They don't have specialty applications -- just Office and Dropbox. It's purely a personal choice between PC and Mac. Cost is irrelevant in the decision.
