These are great controllers but their version with Hall effect thumbsticks are ten dollars more:

You can always find these for less on Ali express via the 8bitdo store.

"Hall effect" or not, these are some of the best controllers I have ever used, second only to the original PS2 models.

The hall effect sticks are worth it for just $10 more. The sticks are usually the first thing to go on controllers. So it's essentially buy it for life.

Do these have the same connection issues that the original version had on the Switch? I have 2 of the original 8bitdo Pro controllers and it's a nightmare getting them to work with my Switch every time I use them.

They are just clearing out the old style ones to make way for the new hall effect ones, if you can wait just wait for a sale on the hall effect ones since they will be superior in durability and performance.

FWIW I have the pro+. If I leave it paused/paired until the controller times out and the system goes into auto-sleep, sometimes I'll have to resync. But I have had zero issues if I manually put it into sleep mode.

Not seeing the deal, they were cheaper last year and are usually floating around this price.

CCC and "list price" are misleading, 8bitdo constantly has coupons showing.

Any recommendations for a wireless D-pad for tablet emulators or one of those portable Anbernic? This one seems highly rated, but I only need D-pad (for SNES games) and I also want portability...

Wow had no idea they made these with hall effect thumbsticks now! Yeah between that, built-in turbo functionality, and the handy back buttons these are my favorite controllers for gaming on PC.

Should I wait for the Hall effect joystick to go on sale?
