Lowed brand is 2 cubic feet so you're getting more coverage with Lowe's mulch for less money

Been waiting for this. For me looks like $99 flat rate delivery. To save time, trips and messing up the car I split with a few neighbors to make it worthwhile.
I've always owned a pickup for this reason. It's 30 years old and runs great and serves as the extra vehicle when one of the daily drivers is in the shop.

I bought 30 bags last weekend. I will go get another 20 this weekend. Trying to split my weekend chores up with having some enjoyable time as well.

What kind of mulch would be best near fruit trees? Want to kill grass and weeds under the tree but dont want toxins. Or should i be buying something else?
Just make sure you do not pile the mulch up like a cone around the trunk. Te top surface of the mulch should actually slope towards the trunk.

Can someone smart tell me how many bags would equal a square yard?
There's a calculator on page. 3'x3'x3" is 2 bags

We find the bags easier than bulk, though the mulch quality is lower. We order 2 pallets delivered then load them up on my Gorilla cart and drop throughout the planting berms. Then come back with a knife to split the bag open, dump, and then spread. Save the time to shovel into a cart from a big pile.
Bulk double ground by me is $30 a cubic yard and brown color enhanced is $39.
^ this 100%. we get ~200 bags, delivered on 2-3 pallets and then use a 2-wheeled wheelbarrow and our wagon to haul 6-8 bags at a time around the mulch beds, dropping them off as we go, then come back with a metal rake and boxcutter to split and spread. bagged vs bulk, it's faster and easier to load; I can carry way more mulch per wheelbarrow trip; it's way easier to handle and spread; and it's so much cleaner compared to the pile that would stain the driveway.

Delivery for me is flat fee of $79. I wait for this sale every year. heart

Just bought 24 bags…

The mulch is more like shredded, not chips. The Scott's I used before were like actual wood chips vs the Lowe's mulch.
FWIW, the ~50 bags I just bought were much different and in the 'wood chip' category that you describe. I think depending on the region or drop, you can get a wide range of types/quality. The stuff around here in Northern California outside the Bay Area is consistently wood chips with a few pieces of chipped construction wood.

I got chipdrop a few times and whew what you got seemed like a crapshoot. They also came randomly and didn't follow instructions on where to drop. It's just not enough money saved for the drawbacks though if I just wanted a lot of mulch to cover an area in the back of my property I could see this working out great.

If you order chipdrop at this time of year (when there's a lot of supply) you can probably get a pretty quick delivery.

No, or at least mine didn't before but you can literally load up a cart, check out at $2 each in garden center and then walk to Customer Service with your old receipt and get a refund. Iv done it before when they wouldn't PM so i created more work for them to have to go return them back to their spot later just to spite them.

Even if it lasts a year its at most $30 ( 10 bags) per year. Better than paying $700 all at once

I purchased 48 bags over several days last week. Went in today and they price matched the ones less that a week old. The one that was over a week they refunded and recharged at the lower price.

If they had refused I was prepared to repurchase and then have them immediately wheel the pallet over to customer service and return them with my old receipts.

$27.50 a yard. If I didn't need 300 bags I would jump on this.
I'm in that annoying middle ground where the mulch is technically cheaper to buy in bulk from a local landscaping center, but the delivery fee would be just as much as the mulch itself.
