I have a calendar alert that repeats on March 1st that has the number of bags I used. If I use more, I'll just update it. It gives me a rough reminder of how many I need.

This is $2 but if I want to avoid the artificial colors and get the garden bark that's $6.76. Ridiculous

We find the bags easier than bulk, though the mulch quality is lower. We order 2 pallets delivered then load them up on my Gorilla cart and drop throughout the planting berms. Then come back with a knife to split the bag open, dump, and then spread. Save the time to shovel into a cart from a big pile.
Bulk double ground by me is $30 a cubic yard and brown color enhanced is $39.

this stuff is garbage, last time I bought it I found what were clearly pieces from pallets and other broken down wooden items.

This at 50 bags is still cheaper than all he mulch places around me not even including the delivery fee. Was hoping to have it delivered but they are just more expensive. Guess Lowe's it is.

Do you all remove old mulch before putting new one?

I purchased 48 bags over several days last week. Went in today and they price matched the ones less that a week old. The one that was over a week they refunded and recharged at the lower price.

If they had refused I was prepared to repurchase and then have them immediately wheel the pallet over to customer service and return them with my old receipts.
And we wonder why retail workers look miserable and hate their job.

Bought this once years ago. Never again. In Illinois, at least, these bags contained not just wood that had been painted blue, but also nails. And the brown color lasted weeks at best. You get what you pay for.

I have always gotten the bagged mulch since it is much easier to haul around my yard, yes a bulk delivery is about the same price and better quality, but then I have to shovel it off the driveway and cart it. Well, this might be my last year with bagged mulch...or at least Lowe's mulch. I picked up 40 bags last night from a new wrapped pallet and every bag was splitting at the seams when you tried to move it. They made the plastic so thin the heat weld doesn't hold. If you pick it up with your hands you will regularly tear the plastic. If I have to baby these and hold them in my arms they are no longer more convenient. Maybe I got a bad batch but the guy helping me load said all the bags he has seen were like that. I would recommend looking elsewhere or at least checking the bags at your local Lowe's before purchasing.

I've always owned a pickup for this reason. It's 30 years old and runs great and serves as the extra vehicle when one of the daily drivers is in the shop.

I bought 30 bags last weekend. I will go get another 20 this weekend. Trying to split my weekend chores up with having some enjoyable time as well.
That's a good idea. It's the only thing pickup's are good for, loading crap you don't want in a vehicle. I just rent a pickup.
