I have a calendar alert that repeats on March 1st that has the number of bags I used. If I use more, I'll just update it. It gives me a rough reminder of how many I need.

This is $2 but if I want to avoid the artificial colors and get the garden bark that's $6.76. Ridiculous

We find the bags easier than bulk, though the mulch quality is lower. We order 2 pallets delivered then load them up on my Gorilla cart and drop throughout the planting berms. Then come back with a knife to split the bag open, dump, and then spread. Save the time to shovel into a cart from a big pile.
Bulk double ground by me is $30 a cubic yard and brown color enhanced is $39.

For all the people takling about the quality. I literally found a shop rag in my bag this year. It was dirty and I almost missed it but ya, just a little filler.

For $2 I guess this works, but it's pretty crap mulch. Very chunky. The shredded stuff is a lot better. Allows for more airflow, holds moisture, doesn't pack down as much, looks better. Overall, the shredded cedar is worth the extra money.

Is cedar chip/mulch better? I know it's expensive but if that does come two seasons and don't have dye, it's that a better option?

Yes, ceder can be better depending on what you want. Ceder doesn't attract termites, the natural look lasts at least a couple seasons, it breaks down much slower, it smells better at first, but that goes away pretty quickly.

Is it that much better?
Yes, I found that HD mulch is more finely shredded. This allows the mulch to turn to dirt after a year of use, this means no need to remove old mulch so much.

$27.50 a yard. If I didn't need 300 bags I would jump on this.
It's actually $13.50 per cu yard

They must have changed the stupid site. Now I can't log in at all. Keeps saying unexpected error and then there is a 2-minute countdown to retry. Same applies to log in with one-time passcode option. SD effect?

Just picked up 15 bags. Best to pick up in pickup bed or line your car with a tarp or trash bag. I don't have a truck, used my minivan, and manure infused water leaked into my van after the employees loaded them into the van. It's a hard smell to get out. The mulch was probably kept next to the manure.
Luckily I have a truck but last year the coloring leaked all in the bed and then stained my driveway. Had to pressure wash both out. This year I picked them after several days of no rain, didn't have an issue with leaking but the last bag did dump dyed water all over the loading area employee.

I buy this every year. I'm thinking of switching to rubber mulch which is currently $8/bag at Sams. Does anyone have pro/con comparisons between the two mulches? tia

The quality isn't great. But they are good enough for their purpose. I'll probably get some better-quality bags from HD when they run the spring black Friday sale to put on top of these.

Any way to get better price for delivery? App shows $99 for me. I was considering doing the same as you did. After shoveling yards of mulch last year out of my driveway, I decided bags would be easier this year.

You're just paying money for your yard to become a rubber landfill.

Just got my 90+ bags delivered for $79. They were fast, on time, and placed the pallets right where I wanted them. Great deal! Now I have my weekend cut out for me….

If you need that much just get a chip drop https://getchipdrop.com/
Don't do this. The chips are pretty wet or can have diseases. Wet ones have too much nitrogen and will potentially kill your plants. Moreover, the decomposition will need a lit of carbon and if it's not there, it smell nasty. Plus it'll grow weird fungus after it rains. Ask me how I know?

This is my favorite mulch. Big chunks which means it's sticks around instead of blowing away or clumping up.
