Engineers are not perfect. My wife is on her second engine in a Mercedes C300, dealer maintained since new, engine replaced at 77k miles. 10k mile oil change intervals. Cylinder 1 wrist pin fails on the M274 all the time. Seems to be less frequent for those who change oil more regularly. Anecdotal, but, to say engineers know best is not always true.
This is good price for Mobil 1 (for the varieties posted here) if you care for really good oil. It is $21.xx for 5 quarts average and I am sure this beats the Costco price. Irrespective of what oil you choose, I would strongly advise against 10k oil changes but stick to 5k - 6k to play it safe. If you have a high mileage vehicle with a good oil filter, you can skip changing the filter and change only in alternate oil changes.
This is not good advice. You do not know more than the engineers that designed your engine. If it needed to be done every 5k miles the owners manual would say that.

Seems to be a common theme with forced induction engines. NA engines are fine with 10k intervals while FI are better off with 5k. Spark plugs are another item that need to be replaced more frequently on FI engines.
3 pack of 5 quart 5W-40 European rang up at $24.47 for me. Fingers crossed, we'll see if I get 3 one quart bottles, or a cancellation…
Same for me... when I went to check out it has $6 for shipping since under $35 so I added a second 5qt x 3.... says arriving Sat so we shall see. 6 x 5qt bottles (30 qts) for $54 would be slick. edit: it shipped!

this is for one oil change on my X6M
10 gallons for flush/change, and then the 3rd one as she sips a quart every 1k afterwards.
spoiled trophy wife biotch, but oh she's so good on the road... lol

Appeal to authority argument is a terrible argument, especially when you consider all of the things that have gone wrong over time with engineered products. Especially when you throw in the Marketing team as well as lawyers.
Do what the owners manual says. You are not benefitting your car one bit by changing the oil more often than what the engineers determined was the proper distance/time. You may not be hurting anything but you are wasting time and money 'playing it safe'.
This is terrible advice. Please stop giving advice in automobile/vehicle related threads.

Solid deal given current prices. I wouldn't trust it for 10,000 miles as claimed. But the Euro blend is Porsche approved. My grandpa was an Air Force mechanic, and he also reiterated that clean, cheap oil is better than dirty, fancy/expensive oil.
Multiple UOAs on various sites have shown it to be perfectly fine for 10k OCIs. I, myself, change it around 7500-8000 miles though.
