Historically Samsung and other devices supported Qualcomm's QuickCharge (up to version 3) through USB-A ports to compatible devices and provided up to 18W charging.

However, Power Delivery has largely taken over. Devices like the Google Pixel no longer support Qualcomm QuickCharge. Additionally, properly designed USB-A to USB-C cables will signal Power Delivery devices to limit charging current to 1.5A. This can limit such charging devices to 7.5W charging(!) if connected using a cable like the one in this deal to a standard USB-A.

This kind of cable can actually make sense as part of an intentional slow charging setup (say, for 5W or 2.5W overnight charging in concert with a low-wattage USB power adapter).

Good luck!
Jon
At least they are honest and upfront that it's only usb2 cable. Wish all mft were like that. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ’จ

The current generation of iPhones now uses the same connector as Android.

It would not work with older iPhones.

This would work with the iPhone 15 but, as noted earlier, with the iPhone 15 using Power Delivery, these would limit any USB-C iPhone charging to 7W. More than enough for slower charging (especially for overnight) but well below the 12W which would have been possible with USB-A and lightning (and far below the 18W or more possible with USB-C to lighting or USB-C to USB-C).

Good luck!
Jon

The problem is, who still uses USB 2 with USB-A in 2024 lol
They probably won't read this message because the internet is too complicated for them.....
Who? Probably about 90% of people buying cables since USB-2 saturates the market. This is especially true for anyone connecting to USB-A and not C... someone with a (relatively) older wall outlet with USB-A connectivity, a (relatively) older car, an older computer, or whatever. You've got to actually make an effort to find one that's USB-3 or 3.1.

For charging USB generation doesn't matter so much which is what most people buying cables are using them for; just make sure they can handle the rated power of the charger/device. Unless you are connecting to an external drive you'd probably just use bluetooth or wifi or the cloud to move files around on a phone.

I just ordered two cables tonight, but not the ones in this listing. One is USB-2 rated for 100W power which I only intend to use to charge things and likely nothing else. The other is USB 3.1 gen2 because I needed a cable that was USB-A on one end for an external drive capable of 10Gbps...

Why do you care what other people use anyway?

Thank you! I deliberately use a super slow 5w charger at night to help maintain battery life and reduce heat.

My slow charging overnight regime uses a USB-A to USB-C cable and a charger rated for 2.5W (5V @ up to 500mA). I use old, but relatively high quality, Blackberry chargers for this purpose. I've also stockpiled my older Apple 5W chargers (5V @ up to 1A) for other low wattage accessory power needs.

Good luck!
Jon

I got mine. As I guessed, they're ugly cheap looking cables that are good quality. Connectors are good quality, the 10' cable has much heavier cable as it should, 117g compared to the 6' at 47g.

I just wish they had 3' cables available, I need that in my car.
