Hot take, but these games were incredibly slow and boring. They play more like graphic novels than rpgs. There is more dialogue reading than actual playing. So don't go in expecting Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, or any of the typical rpg games, or you'll be disappointed.
I'll take my downvotes now, for having a differing view.
Try the Digital Devil Saga series. 90% battle and little dialogue.
I played Nocturne. It's the best in series.

I found that far more boring than persona personally. As much as it is a graphic novel it is an optimization puzzle. Trying to get as much relationship building done as possible in the days available. Like yourself, somehow nothing has been as magical as nocturne for me even the other SMT games.

Technically that's the Shin Megami Tensei (Megaten) series, of which Digital Devil Saga was a PS2 series. The ones available on Switch are SMT 3 and SMT V.

No, you're right. I played Persona 4 years ago and had a blast, but then redoing that again with Persona 5 and now Persona 3, it is a SLOG! It's the same shit over and over and over again. I can't believe how much Atlus copies and pastes from the prior games. I'm sure Persona 6 will be the exact same setup. New kid in town, meets other kids who can use personas and solves mysteries while the main character goes to high school every day and makes friends. And add in racism, sexism and homophobia. Game done!
This sounds like Tokyo Mirage Sessions, which was enjoyable but god the story was atrocious. You're telling me they're all like this?

Personally I don't enjoy these types of games. Very dialogue heavy to start and to me it got old fast.
Maybe try one game first before spending $50. You may love it or find it boring/tedious.

I mean, ya. If you don't like dialogue heavy games, you probably won't like persona since it's half social sim, half RPG.
