Much better than a Kindle Fire or ONN tablet. Good Tablet.

In pretty much every way? I'm getting sick of my fire tablets. The obnoxious OS, the lack of support for apps, and even with the fire toolbox thing I still have issues with my more recent tablet.

True, it's more pure Android which is good. But the performance of this thing is pretty much on the same level as the fire tablets. I have both, and I'm still within the return window for the A9, but I'm deciding to return the A9.

I guess you have to spend closer to $300 to get decent performance. The screen touch response didn't feel very good, and it's overall kinda of sluggish. Maybe just a bit better than the Fire tablets, but just too close to make them worth while.

Too bad, i have been looking for a pen enabled tablet for my kids. Maybe should just go iPad but i dont know if google family will work, which is pretty good at controlling access
Of course you should consider other brands such as Apple, Xiaomi, Huawei, etc. tablets with pens.

That's apps and Google services. There's still core OS and security updates.
That is true for bleeding edge features, but most core services have moved to Play Services. Unless you're using a tablet for confidential Government work, security updates are non-essential for content consumption. This will run Netflix just fine for 5+ years.

Yeah the big draw for the S6 lite is the pen, which works great. My daughter loves to draw and color on her tablet so the pen was a must

EDIT: Nvm, it does have a headphone jack, and Costco's specs are wrong. I thought the hole was an empty pen slot.
speaking of specs, I'm looking to see if it has a GPS module, but I can't tell from the specifications on Costco's website, does anybody know, that would be cool to use it in the car as an extra screen for navigation on trips while connecting on hotspot for the data aspect of navigation

The galaxy tab S line does have GPS even in the non-cellular models but not sure about this A class device

Online reviews say there is GPS and rated it very accurate

Any idea if the SD slot is just for storage or apps and appdata (like netflix movie downloads) can be put on there as well? Thanks.

Moving apps to external storage is native to Android.

It's up to the developers on whether they allow it.

However, you can override that by going into the developer options and turning on "force allow apps on external".

Any official statement from Samsung for how long they will support this tablet? I went to an iPad because I got tired of Samsung not supporting their tablets for more than 3 years. (Even the Galaxy Tab Sx.)
It's Android. If the manufacturer doesn't support it, someone on XDA will.

Besides, it's not like software updates have historically been a boon for Apple devices.

You get them longer because there's literally nowhere else to turn on iOS and Apple developers hate code segmentation.

No, not in every way. The screen is better on the Fire. Its has an IPS screen. This is TFT. I have both the Fire Max 11 and the A9+ and compared them side to side. Do you want a better screen or a better Android experience?

The A9+ 128GB model with 8GB of RAM is the better buy, IMHO. I got it open box on Amazon for $173 last week.

4 GB RAM in 2024 is hard to get by with how much memory apps take up these days. Even phones have 8 GB RAM.

iPad exists for 250$. There's not much reason other than price to go with android tablets.

iPad is one area where there is little to no competition
I can think of some really quickly. 1) Cheap expandable memory with SD card support. 2) People already invested in the Android ecosystem can use their paid apps on their tablet too. 3) *shocking* some people have different tastes and don't like iOS. 4) easy drag and drop file system storage from PC to tablet

Tough competition here with the Onn 11 Pro for 120. The big draw compared to the Onn is the 90hz display. If its for a kiddo or someone who just wants to browse, the Onn is fantastic. If you're going to stream video apps, use minimal other apps, the Samsung is great.

That true, but the Onn it Widevine Level 3, unless Walmart spend money validation to L1.
This was 7 months ago, not sure about now.

So, Samsung still better for media content using app.
