Just a friendly reminder: don't stock too many now because the Mobil 1 summer rebate is coming soon. (Usually they start in June).
This looks like a good price.

I have for years used the Mobil 1 5W30 in all our vehicles... currently two cars and two SUV's.

What makes this any different for trucks and SUV's? Just marketing?
It says "Protection, Performance and Cleanliness". Kind of like a desensitizing condom.

I get mixed messages googling around, particularly this thread I randomly stumbled upon

https://www.rav4world.com/threads...ad.319783/

I don't know what engine you have specced, but generally they don't change engines in the same generation. 2018 - current for rav 4s. Toyota's owner's manual for 2018 spec'd 0w20, but 5w20 could be substituted and should be changed after 5k miles at next oil change with 0w20.

So I can't say definitively for you, but that's how you can check.

Uh ok? You think I'm going to put you into some infinite internet trolling debate?

I don't want to waste time as much as you do, but if you believe in avoiding a possible trap by not helping, then ok sure, whatever. Just means I'll just be safe than sorry and stick with the manual.

That thread did seem to imply the 0w16 might be a CAFE thing but then goes way too technical about why 0w16 is required that I rather play it safe.

Thanks for trying to help to some degree I suppose...

That's exactly what my manual says but says you should change 0w20 one time in emergency but must change back to 0w16

Good price but what the heck is for truck or suv. Many cars share the same engine as suv or light truck
Better towing protection for your Civic or Corolla.

If you need to get oil advice from Slickdeals, then I guess it doesn't matter! I personally like this oil, wasn't saying mobile 1 is bad but I also got the Kirkland oil deal a couple months back and my truck doesn't like it. I'm going to replace it with this well before I need to.

Truck and SUV engines are exactly the same as any other engine, and in fact many non-trucks share the exact same engine as trucks. They all have bearings and components that are made of exactly the same materials. Don't fall for the marketing nonsense.
