This has been at this price quite often recently and I bought this (and returned) last month.
If you are considering buying this for kids under 12, I would suggest not to. My nephew, lost all his excitement and gave up on these guns within hours. the trigger is really stiff to use for real play and it's a task to get a successful pull, even with both hands for him.

These things would break before you could use up gel rounds.

I've been using mine to "encourage" the squirrel to leave the feeders alone. Works pretty well.

Thinking of the same thing. How long can the gels sit in the gun for? I imagine they would dissolve or gum up the shaft if left too long?

I got them at this price last week also. They work well but they're not great. They are hard to load because the opening is shallow but since you get so many gel beads, it's not a big deal to drop a bunch while loading. And as others have mentioned, sometimes a bead doesn't get loaded correctly due to gravity and you end up shooting a blank. But this doesn't really happen often and happens more when you closer to running out of beads. Lastly, the handle is relatively big and the trigger is a bit of distance from the handle and it's hard to pull the trigger. This is because the trigger primes and shoots in one motion. So even for an adult hand, it's tough. That's why in the reviews, people use two fingers to fire this. But it works well and not bad for $7

Nerf doesn't really say but for other brands, unused beads should stay in water for long term storage once hydrated. So I assume they will dry out in the gun if unused

These are horrible don't bother. Shoots like every 3rd round and crushes the others into pieces.
