Most restaurants use plastic cutting boards because wooden cutting boards harbor bacteria.

Tried them and sent them back. Small, thin, and low quality.

Don't buy plastic cutting boards because of micro plastic would go in your food. Always use wooden cutting boards

So I have to choose, plastic in my stomach or harmful bacteria in stomach? How about bamboo cutting boards? I just can't win eh?

I just use a marble one. Not sure how much they go for these days, but got one on Walmarts site a couple years back for like $12. Heavy to clean, but least I'll never have to worry about having to replace it due to wear, microplastics, or it being porous like wood. Glass would also be a good option for these reasons.

Same. I put my cutting boards through the dishwasher. Got one I've been using 10 years. I'm still alive...

As something of a middle-ground between comments above, I use plastic boards like these when I really want to be able to run them through the dishwasher afterward-- prepping raw chicken, pork, etc.

But I use wood (nice heavy end-grain board, or cheapo bamboo) for basically anything else.

The size assortment on this set looks nice but I'm turned off by the "flimsy" comment above.

Most restaurants only use a knife to open a bag. When's the last time you seen a fast food restaurant prep any food?

That's more telling on yourself that you only go to fast food restaurants

The bacteria myth has been disproven. Wood is naturally antibacterial towards most food borne pathogens. Also wood is just better for keeping an edge on a knife, and you can refinish them once they get a little scared up.

You washing your clothes causes more micro plastics than using a cutting board. I guarantee you that your shoes arent all leather and your clothes arent 100% cotton or silk. You - personally - really are doing more harm washing your plastic clothes so let's relax on others using a plastic cutting board.
