Reviews seem stellar but in reality, the quality is so so. I bought a 20 slot one and bottom drawer is misaligned (extruding about 1 to 2mm out when closed), and not lockable. The top one is lockable but you would have to manually push in, as alignment is not there to close/lock by itself.

I have a dozen + automatics, I no longer keep them in winders (I have 5 winder slots). You are better off using them once a month than leaving them on the winders all the time.
I'm debating if I want this case...

Whenever I buy a case/storage for hobbies, I feel the need to fill it up. When you accidently buy another and have +1 of what the box holds, you buy another box and fill it up again, rinse repeat.

How many people have a dozen+ quartz watches? I figure by the time you get to that point, you would have moved on to 'nicer' automatic pieces. Show me a more useful winder instead!
True. But I use these for my IEM collection (In-ear monitors) hoping to limit myself to a reasonable number. I've exceeded that number, may buy this case. I'm hopeless. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

What do I do when I have both watches and IEMs?

Interesting input.

Alternatively, can't one just manually wind an automatic if they don't want to wear it that month?

Yes, usually just picking it up and putting it on is enough movement to get the automatics going. My point was more that keeping them on winders all the time will wear them down faster. The main spring will be ok if you let it completely wind down, you just want to make sure you get them moving every so often so they don't get stuck and to keep lubricants moving. So this case is great for mechanical/automatic watches.

Casio/citizen fan? The newer seiko vh31 movements turned me into a quartz enjoyer again.

I collect Citizen watches so its normal to me. The hassle of maintaining and winding automatic watches seems insane when the sun can do it for me.

True but if you have any complications it will suck to set date, day, moon phase, etc. every couple days when you switch watches. Just setting time by itself isn't too bad…
