Give me back my free movies Bezos
I agree, and this demonstrates the one weakness of streaming: what's done can be undone. Who's to say they won't do the same thing with these $5 movies that they did with the free ones last week?
I was also a little irked with this. It is why I still own close to 1000 blu-ray and 4k discs

Amazon released a bunch of free movies for people to add to their accounts. They reneged, saying it was a pricing mistake, and pulled the movies from everyone's libraries. There is now zero trust that Amazon won't do this again with movies people have paid for because it's within their licensing clause to be able to do so.
The way I heard it (and I could be wrong) Amazon didn't release anything, they mistakenly marked a bunch of movies at $0 and a bunch of SlickDealers stormed the castle to grab it.
They "fixed the glitch" and refunded everyone.

Still sucks but you make it sound like Amazon was gifting everyone out of the goodness of their heart then took it back.

If they did (but they won't) you'd get your $5 back. It's rarely happened and spreading FUD is pointless.

It's more the fact that Amazon can take back any move any time for any reason they see fit. Yes $0 for a movie was a "price mistake" but it is not unheard of to get a free movie. How do I know these $5 movies are not "price mistakes" and they can just take it back when they want? If i go to Walmart, a DVD scans at $.01 (price mistake) and I pay it's mine. At Amazon if I pay $.01 (price mistake) they can now just take it back days, weeks or years later?

Just not a good feeling, if you purchased something, no matter the price it is yours, in your secure movie library. If it's not really yours in your own library that now can be manipulate, then it does not feel so secure any more or that you actually own any of these digital movies.

How offended would you be if Amazon came to your house tomorrow, said they accidently sold your TV to you at too low of a price, it was a mistake, and they are taking it back? It should not be acceptable in your digital move library, but Amazon has shown us it's fine to take what they want.

I was not awar of this. I cancelledPrime after they added the last surcharge to my free streaming in protest. I'm sure its really hitting Bezos' bottom line.

So there are a couple of fallacies I see with this argument.

First, they did take away a movie but you paid nothing for it. While crappy this happens all the time with things like game pass or Spotify, or heck most trial offers. Now I'm not saying there isn't a real issue with digital media as it can be taken away even if you pay and that is a problem, especially if you are not compensated. However I feel the outrage for this price mistake is in no way warranted.

Second, they take away price mistakes all the time, they just happen to do it before the things ships, so the precedent is not new. However given the instantaneous delivery of these it does get a little more noticeable when the price mistake is fixed. Just because you are able to place an order does not guarantee you will receive it.

Third, I see it analogous to Banks being able to take money back if they mistakenly deposit into your account (https://www.sofi.com/learn/conten...ur-favor/). However I am not going to start stuffing cash under my mattress, convenience and security trump those concerns for me, however you can do what and feel about it as you will.

Gran Turismo is a really good movie. Definitely worth the $5. AFAIK, Amazon hasn't taken it from my library just yet - although I did pay for it.

I wish SD would list the year the movie was released in parentheses. For example
Vertigo (1958)

My main point is that it highlights how a company can take back something you purchased without your permission. Maybe $0 is a bad example but if it was $.01 it would exemplify the issue.

Companies can cancel price mistakes any time in the order process, even have UPS stop shipping, but once it's delivered to you they have no power. Digital moves are instantaneous but when it is in "my" library I should have the same rights as it being in my home.

I don't give a single ____ Amazon canceled a price mistake on a free movie very few people care about. It is annoying people are posting that in all these Amazon movie deals. I just bought Vertigo on AMAZON!

Nope, each of us agree to the digital terms when purchasing the movies. They can take away the movie access if the studio decides to remove their movie. It's not a great feeling when you paid money for a digital movie that can be removed. You basically are long term renting the digital movies. This is a big reason some people have decided to stick with physical media instead or in addition to digital. I will say this hasn't happened very often, but people have documented movies that were taken away. Also the studio has the rights to modify the digital movies as well. (example changing something offensive)
