I read that saw stopping technology made progress in congress. May see a lot more deals on saws before a new mandate goes live
I actually ordered this saw a week ago at this price. I currently have a R4511 Ridgid table saw with the granite top. Great saw, but I decided at this price point I would bite. I can probably sell that Ridgid saw for over $400, so that will help offset the cost even more. I already have several Shop Fox tools in my shop and have been pleased with them. Their customer support has always been helpful when I have had a question. If you plan to run this on 220v there is a circuit breaker that you have to upgrade as well as doing the rewire. When I contacted them about what parts were

"*This machine is prewired for 115V operation. 230V operation requires purchase and installation of conversion kit X1888224X."

The part number stated does not show up on their website that I could find. I contacted customer service and below is what I was told.

"We appreciate you contacting us regarding your question. You would need the PX1888224X Circuit Breaker 10A. We have provided a link to view/purchase the item."

Volvo famously gave away their patent for the 3 point seat belt. This is similar but I still think SawStop is hiding something because they hold TONS of patents and giving away one isn't going to be enough. SawStop doesn't have the best history regarding altruism.

Supposedly table saws result in the most injuries. But I wondered about that. The stopping mechanics would probably be considered too heavy for miter saws. But electronic brakes could be added and be a lot more effective than nothing.
This true, but majority of the table saw injuries are kickback. Some show up to the hospital, but majority likely there wounds at home and SAWSTop's tech doesn't prevent kick back.

Pretty sure you are making this up out of thin air. Got a source to this nonsense you're spewing?
He's right, it came up during one of the hearings. Bosch said their tech had a low take rate. Meaning it was too expensive.

Laguna Tools F2 Fusion Tablesaw 36in is far, far superior. slightly less published hp but the build quality and warranty put it over the top.

The Laguna F2 costs $500 more and is 1-3/4 hp vs the 2hp of the Shop Fox. I've read several reviews where guys weren't happy with the F1, but perhaps the F2 is better? I have a Dewalt jobsite saw, and for $1300 I jumped on this Shop Fox deal. I did a ton of research and for me, the Shop Fox was the best new saw on the market for the money. The Ridgid and Delta contractor saws would have been a big step up for me, but the Shop Fox is going to be awesome after running the Dewalt for the past 8 years.

Don't forget to factor in the $200 freight cost that most vendors like Rockler charge. Only freight costs from this Shop Fox deal was the $35 lift gate unloading

Sawstop tried to have their technology mandated so they were the monopoly seller of table saws. I'm all for safety but I don't intend to reward that behavior with my money.

Said the playbook of every monopoly that existed since the dawn of monopoly.

How can they "let" one. Arent patents time based? I have been waiting for them to expire so all saws start incorporating the safety technology.

"The full expiration of SawStop's patent protections might stretch until 2026. Their strategic use of continuation patents ensures they enjoy protection beyond the initial 20-year period from their primary patent filing.

SawStop's safety system is undeniably groundbreaking. It's only fair that they maximize the benefits of their innovation. "
