what city/state is that? In Southern California, giant size costs $20 + tax

Yup and if it's dine-in restaurants/bar there is mandatory 20% gratuity (applies to all diners, large groups or individual), security fee, cleaning fee. Your $100 food becomes closer to $200 with all those additional nonsense. Add insult to injury, there's a blank "Tip" area with suggested amount on the check. They may get lucky if you don't pay attention or too drunk to notice and give them another 20% tip on top of the mandatory tip.

It will be a luxury to buy fast food in another decade 😂 let alone go into a restaurant.

I went into a Jersey Mikes once for lunch, at a gas station in rural PA. It was that, or a Burger King in town. And there were at least people at the sub shop....the burger shop was desolate.

Once you got over the fumes of petrol and rubber/plastic offgassing in the air (which totally couldn't ever contaminate your food, ever)....you'd check out the sub prices.

I must've dropped a few four-letter words, as it was around $20 for what I'd call a normal/large sized sub. No exotic ingredients or upcharges, just a normal sliced ham/deli meat.

We laughed and walked out. Any place that can willy-nilly give $2 off any of their main food menu items is clearly taking you for a ride. And buddy, that ride is going more into the dark woods than you are now!
