One thing to take into account: database subscription costs extra with Escort. Uniden is free (so far)

If this is the one you're referring to, it's $289. I've done a fair bit of research in the last week or two on it looking for a newer detector unit for one of my fun cars. It is a very good radar detector especially for the money. But depending on where you're located in the country it may be unlikely to get it. That is my issue in WA state so I'm going with this certified refurbed Escort. Not sure if it's technically better or not but I jumped for it today for the directional indication of radar/laser alerts.
