The idea that you "get nothing back" isn't totally true — in the case of the Subaru, you're renting a car for $8/day for years. There is value in that.

Many people are missing by the term "fast charging". There's isn't such thing. There's is slow charging and VERY slow charging. As such, if you can't charge overnight in your own garage, it's not gonna be fun. If you wanna charge it on long trips, it will not be fun. Use it for daily commute, and that's it
-first generation technology is always flawed. Full stop. Buying into any major revision is always met with flaws.
-the arguments against solar panels always seem to revolve around the how leasing and predatory sales tactics have almost completely sucked the life out of that industry. None of that reflects the functionality. Also since they've been around they've improved.
People like this don't want to hear any of that though. Anyone remember that "colossal failure" of an iPhone? You couldn't even take a video or install apps.. I guess we will just have to wonder what it could have been /s
