I don't think it's Walmart branded. I think XPG is a brand created by Adata?
XPG is a division of Adata, if memory serves ... They have some actually good NVMe SSDs, and this logo looks very similar to their logo on their SSDs and DRAM sticks.

The screen is probably "meh", but a 140w 4070 for this price point is insane. This would be a killer deal on a desktop without a monitor included, so with that in mind, this seems absolutely slick as frick.

Maybe this laptop is not great for the very specific situation you described, but if you want to use this laptop as a desktop replacement, keep it plugged in and plan to hook up an external monitor, these specs are incredible for this price. You will never be able to find another laptop with the same specs for the same price or cheaper, unless if you wait for another 5 years.

Also, the product page says the battery life is 16 hours.
First, no specific situations were mentioned, so I'm unsure what you're on about.

Second, specs don't always matter. As LavenderWalrus2248 rightly pointed out, the "coveted" 4070 moniker is all clever marketing, because the 4070 should at best be called 4060ti, if even that. Looks good on your order detail page, but doesn't translate to real world performance, as can be seen from numerous benchmarks where it often loses to the 3070 (not even 3070ti).

My first reaction to LavenderWalrus2248's comment was it's a cope, but I have to admit it is accurate.

I'm trying to find any info on this laptop that I can. What kinds of trends are you seeing in the common problems that pop up with this model?

I'm not seeing problems. This review on youtube had the guy praising the cooling system. I'm thinking, the laptop seems to have a good cooling system to be able to max out the 140 watts for the 4070 GPU?

Just read some Reddit reviews that said there was screen bleed and high CPU temps. Also the case is apparently all plastic instead of magnesium alloy in earlier versions and so is more flimsy (broken hinges, rubber feet coming off, etc.). But, some say that if you keep it on a cooling pad, don't move it around too much and hook up an external monitor, this laptop should perform very well. For the $839 price, given the specs, it's pretty much unbeatable.

Yeah I know it like the Evoo Gaming laptop they had years ago. I bought that and it was a monster! Maybe I got a bad laptop. Hope that's the case and you all are winners
Yes I Think I remember that Evoo laptop, or maybe it was a Gateway laptop with Evoo build quality from Walmart for only around $550+ also with RTX 2060 but only 256gb ssd 3 to 4 years ago...

I never knew the 4070 was many times worse than 3070ti...maybe with more mature development of Graphic drivers over the years and more games in the future taking advantage of the 4070 things may get better. https://www.reddit.com/r/hardware...is_a_joke/

Now a third party seller is selling it for $1470 so a savings of $630.

Congrats to anyone who got a hold of this deal & try it out at least.....(and you could always return it if not happy).

Maybe the perception of the laptop 4070 GPU explains the clearance pricing?

But it's critical to know the wattage or heat throttling that a particular laptop will apply. For this deal, the laptop has good cooling so it can run the GPU at the full 140 watts and keep it cool.

Look at the first screenshot in your video - the 4070 as tested was rated at 35W-115W. I wonder if that affected the performance, and how much better would the 4070 have performed if allowed to run at 140 W max instead of 115 W max?

Yes that's true, I missed that important point. The extra wattage should make this a lot better assuming minimal to no throttling. I expect the GPU to perform like a champ in this laptop, better than anything I've owned before. Only the screen quality may turn people away in the end, if it appears washed out or less build quality.--some will live with it that way to save $300+.

The lowest priced 4070 laptops I've seen to date were an Asus Tuft in BF $980, and Asus rog open box $1180, refurb Lenovo legion slim 7 $1180, Acer Nitro $1100, Acer Predator triton 14" $1200, & HP omen for $1280.

4050, 4060 and 4070 are best suited for <100W. Past that you get diminishing returns, meaning performance gains will be small. It's why they shove them in tiny laptops, such as the newest G14. Notice how the G14 doesn't have a 4080 and 4090 variant (unlike last year's thicker model) - those GPUs are actually fast and can stretch their legs at higher wattages.

This deal was posted an hour earlier on twitter. I just passed it up because it is true. 53whr is horrible and why would you buy spend $830 on a laptop with a bad display.

Also Adata has horrible customer service so you better hope this thing doesn't need an RMA. Makes no sense to skimp on $100 for a $830 purchase for 10% gpu gain at the expense of a bad display and battery life.

The real cope is calling this a desktop replacement you could easily build a better performing desktop for $830.

What aspect of the display makes it bad? I couldn't tell if it's just the resolution or something else?

Just got the laptop. Honestly the screen and build quality were pretty impressive for the price. I was expecting way worse. The speakers of course are laughable but that WAS expected, lol. I've been holding off on some sort of slickdeals frontpage monster like this and it totally fit the bill. Really stoked to grab this.
