I don't think it's Walmart branded. I think XPG is a brand created by Adata?
XPG is a division of Adata, if memory serves ... They have some actually good NVMe SSDs, and this logo looks very similar to their logo on their SSDs and DRAM sticks.

The screen is probably "meh", but a 140w 4070 for this price point is insane. This would be a killer deal on a desktop without a monitor included, so with that in mind, this seems absolutely slick as frick.

I don't think so.

13700h is nowhere near comparable to a desktop 13700 🤡. Same thing with a mobile 4070 it's desktop counterpart would be a 4060.

Just got the laptop. Honestly the screen and build quality were pretty impressive for the price. I was expecting way worse. The speakers of course are laughable but that WAS expected, lol. I've been holding off on some sort of slickdeals frontpage monster like this and it totally fit the bill. Really stoked to grab this.
Have you opened up the case yet to look around? I cannot find any service manual or upgrade info on the case or hardware of this model.

FYI there is an empty bay to receive a SATA 2.5" drive. however, there seems to be only a single M.2 slot which is occupied by the 1 TB NVME SSD. The SSD is the ADATA Legend 850 1TB. I wonder if there is anything hidden behind the battery or something. I believe other models had multiple M.2 slots, but I'm not seeing that with this 2023 model.

The RAM is removable. It's a pair of DDR5 SO-DIMMs: ADATA AD5S560016G-B

According to one review on Amazon, this laptop only has 1 M.2 slot!

Yes, I'm debating whether to add a 4TB 2.5" SATA SSD for 5TB total, or replace the 1TB M.2 SSD with a 4TB for 4TB total.

I understand. What components would you build with at this price?

Are you returning it to Walmart or sending it to XPG for warranty repair? Seems like a great laptop for the price if everything works.

I'll likely just return it. I hear their RMA is just horrible. I may see if I can open the case without removing the sticker but I'm sure that's not how it'll work. I feel like maybe it's just a loose connection

You should be able to pop open the bottom cover and take a peek inside to see if the battery connection is fully seated. It will not void any warranty.
Suck that your is DOA. Mine is fine, no screen bleed, no flexing on keyboard, build quality is pretty good to be honest. Plenty fast for my needs. I was reading news and YouTube for a good 2 hrs and battery still at 70% so that tiny battery is fine for my needs. If I'm gaming, of course it'll need to be plugged in. The screen is not the best but not the worst either. No idea why ppl keeps saying the screen is horrible. For the price point, it's a great deal IMO.

Battery connector did seem loose, been working fine since. Case was easy to pop off.

Have not tested much but runs Balders Gate on Ultra. Fan noise is a real issue so ill have to fiddle with the thermos and see if I can get that reduced

Glad it just a small issue! They have that control center package app where you can set the fan speed and performance/entertainment to control your gpu. Mine ran pretty cool, the fan was a little loud in the beginning but it seem quiet now.

Ya I set it custom and it's a lot better. Very happy. This is for my son to carry around house to house. Overqll really happy. I saw a lot of screen complaints but looks good to me, nice to have a high refresh rate but defaults to 60

What custom fan curve settings did you set? Can you screenshot?
