My most common use for this pry bar is to check for loose/worn ball joints and bushings on cars and light trucks. It could also be used for demolition when remodeling a house. It isn't a must have for a beginner but it is a good quality tool at a very good price.

Good timing! After having the 17 and 25-inch ones for a while, I just finally bought the 36 this morning because it seemed like it would never go on sale. Will take it back tomorrow and get the clearance price. My local store had six or eight of them on the shelf. Some other stores in the area have already stopped selling the 36-inch version.

same as the Channellock, Wilde, the old Craftsman USA (which Harry J Epstein still has). Strike through, but the plastic handles are terrible. They shatter very easily. If you're a diesel/heavy equipment mechanic (which is the only person who needs this length or longer), get Mayhew for budget bars.

I'm not a DIY person like many of you users are but I still want to start on "things" myself. is this a must have around the house, cars, and such? Wondering what would this be used for?

If Mayhew bars were available near the price of the Walmart bars I would recommend them instead. These Hyper Tough bars are the best balance of value/quality and they're more than adequate for any DIYer.

MUST have? Probably not. Will you use it more than you think right now? Probably so

Looks like they have a 15" Hart on clearance as well for $8.06 which would be good for a few things around house/farm. Says my local store has both in stock. Guess I'll pick them both up tomorrow. Thanks OP.

I've used this for suspension work and does the job well (doesn't flex much under heavy force). You're not going find a better deal on quality 36" US made bar. Thumbs up to the OP

Literally the best pry bar I own and I'm an automotive technician. Have been for the past 12 years professionally. Buy it!
