it's that the ethernet connection from the monitor will pass through usb-c to the laptop, so it gives the laptop a hard wired internet connection when plugged into the monitor

Ips, Ethernet, 90w usb c; this hits all points for productivity! Gaming will suffer due to 60Hz (you really want >= 120hz) but otherwise solid monitor for a new price

It also has built-in speakers. Plus 3yrs warranty. Excellent deal.

Exactly! So many people get caught up in refresh rate and this is obviously not targeted at gamers, but rather productivity, home office/business with the built-in docking station capability. I bought one for my wife to use since she is going to grad school and often wants a second screen to use.
Yeah, I'm a big time gamer and totally getting this for work/home office reasons. When I game, I have my 77" LG OLED. I was just genuinely curious if there are any benefits to having a refresh rate above 60hz if I don't plan to use it for gaming.

Noob here. Should I purchase this or the Dell 27 Gaming Monitor - G2724D posted the other day for my 9 year old son who wants to play minecraft/fortnite
Minecraft and fortnite will do just fine with 60hz refresh low visual requirement games like that will be fine. That meets light gaming critteria, and your 9 year old certainly is not trained on refresh rate yet, count your lucky stripes.

Oh, 60hz.... I need a bigger monitor but, no way at 60hz....

Not a good deal in my eyes, a $450+ monitor would support higher than 60hz....
How many hz do you need to play minesweeper in high res?

Is this better than the Acer Nitro 34" UWQHD from Costco?
https://www.costco.com/acer-nitro...57379.html
That is VA this is IPS so strictly speaking tech age ability and spec, yes this is significantly better.

One advantage of high refresh rate for non-gamers is smoothness when scrolling or observing moving objects (e.g. mouse pointer). Probably not a showstopper, or even noticeable to some (most?) people, but it's something to consider. For example, I definitely notice smoother interactions and less jitter when scrolling on a phone with high refresh rates. It makes the user experience more enjoyable for me.

That said, this is a $250 IPS ultra-wide monitor with good specs and lots of features... I'm willing to overlook high frame rates for that. However, if I am going to spend more, even for non-gaming purposes, I would expect high frame rates.

Does only a 60hz refresh rate matter if I won't be gaming on it? Not being sarcastic. Genuinely curious.

This is listed under LG/Business, aimed for productivities, 60hz is plenty. I got it because the integrated hub, one less thing dangling around. No need for KVM if you have two computers at home.

Just bought two new desks for the home office, so why not grab new monitors to go with them? 😀

Watch out. I bought a $8 laptop cooling pad with fans for the summer, like three weeks ago, one thing lead to another, I'm now $500 in the red ... What desks you got?

I just got shipping confirmation on two monitors! But then again I ordered in the morning and it looks like first come first serve if they have any more left in stock. For the folks who ordered late, you'll just have to pray.
