That's interesting. I have a Rog Ally Z1 Extreme, and it's great as a mobile gaming PC for my Steam games. I usually dock it to an external monitor/hotel TV, etc, and it works well enough for older AAA titles and RPG games. The only real issue is storage, as games are getting humongous.

I wonder if the bandwidth of the USB-C that's feeding this hub, and all its peripherals, to the device can handle an SSD + Video + Mouse/Keyboard, without getting saturated (vs a cheaper/slower USB flash drive in on of the USB ports).

Generally speaking, trying to run most modern (last 5 years) games on the steamdeck at a resolution above it's native 720p is going to introduce frame rate issues. It's a great piece of kit but doesn't have the juice to push pixels on newer 3d games at anything much greater than that. In my experience, things like Cyberpunk, Stray and Guardians of the Galaxy are best left at the auto detect settings when using a dock like this as there is no additional processing power introuduced by the dock.

Hope that helps!

Cheers,
Vulgar

Yes, it does, I have it, no problem to feed every USB it's plugged

Can this dock be used as an m.2 enclosure without a steam deck connected? Just an m.2 in the slot and the dock connected to the computer which allows the computer to read and write to the m.2? And can it fit multiple size m.2 up to 2280? The picture looks like a full size but I don't want to just go by that

It says it supports all major OS's. If you look at the LTT video attached it shows him putting in a full size NVME into the dock.

Absolutely! This dock is just an external enclosure/USB hub. As long as the m.2 connection is NVME, 2230 up to 2280 should technically work. I was going to purchase the JSAUX version since it's the popular model many steamdeck owners get, but when I saw this price point, bought this immediately. $35-$40 for the JSAUX is overpriced for what it is.

How's everyone's experience with the steamdeck outputting higher resolutions with something like this? I'm tempted to get this but using a different usb-c to HDMI dock, it felt like the frame rate dropped a lot when trying to output to the TV playing Hogwarts. Was hoping it was the USB connection but wondering if just some games and higher resolution with the SD don't mix well. Thanks!

I have absolutely no need for this, but I've never seen a SD dock with an NVME, so I'm going to buy it anyway!

does it have to be nvme or can it be m.2 SATA? The enclosure I got can also read B+M key SATA but I haven't opened it yet and may opt to get this for the multi functionality if so.

edit: I found the Sabrent site and it appears it does work with m.2 SATA

Anyone using this with the Ally and skull and co. case?

Wondering if it fits. Also, what speed/spec are the USB A ports? Can't seem to find in the description.

Does them saying "4K Clarity: A single HDMI 2.0 port with HDCP 1.4 support allows you to output up to 4K/60Hz on a secondary display. Play games on the big screen or just get more space to work for your Deck and other devices with DisplayPort Alternate Mode (DP Alt) support." mean it supports usb c dp alt or hdmi to dp would work with this? Or is dp alt just mean that's how they get the video signal from your device to output to hdmi.

edit: im assuming no dp alt usb c output - https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDec...palt_mode/

Have this for my Ally, after having bought it for my Steam Deck. USB-C cable location is better suited for the Deck than the Ally, but it otherwise works fine. I can output 4K60 without much issue, USB ports work for mouse and keyboard peripherals.

Yes none of these cheap usb-c docks support dp alt.

Isn't the $20 one is a good value? We can always expand NVMe storage using a $3 NVMe enclosure from Aliexpress? or am i missing something
