This weekend is when they roll out the brand new Target Circle. Which is going to have a Amazon Prime or Walmart+ style option with Same Day Shipping for $99 a year. Apparently we don't have to clip the deals anymore. There will just be thousands of Circle deals automatically added to the items that we are buying when they scan our barcode at checkout. I wonder if they will still have the four item limit that Circle deals used to have, since it sounds like they are getting rid of the Circle coupon limit with the redesign of how everything works. You used to only be able to load something like 75 different Circle deals to your wallet at once, and if you went over that, the app would make you remove one. Edit: I figured that I would post this here too, in case people don't know about the change over on Sunday.
Can't wrap my head around the fact that someone at target is going to get a promotion because they 'successfully' changed the name of the credit card from "target red card" to "target circle card"
here in nyc, target outsources local deliveries to a delivery company target franchises, similar to what amazon does with it's drivers. i talked to one of them (retired guy with a van) and they get paid and treated adequately from target so there's less need to provoke tips from recipients.

I guess I also hadn't noticed the slow multi-year creep of them calling their logo "circle" instead of "bullseye," but it does seem like it would translate more easily into other languages.

Any idea if same day shipping is more like Walmart or like Amazon?

As in... Amazon has its own driver's and Walmart uses other companies sometimes and you are expected to tip.

I think they are still just using Shipt at Target, but changing the name. It sounds like you have to purchase a minimum of $35 of items, and pay the $99 a year to get the same day shipping. I believe they either have an employee or a random person hired specifically for the job, to bring the stuff from the closest store to you, to your house. I am not sure what the tipping situation is really like, but the Target website makes it sound like you don't have to tip, but you do have to order at least $35 worth of stuff, to qualify.

And there were probably a dozen meetings about this…focus groups, etc too.

Thanks for the reminder about the roll out of this, since I do want to sign up. There's mention of Circle 360 only being $49 for Red Card holders for the first year. Smilie

Also worthy noting: I think this change will possibly end being able to get a price match + an added discount of a Circle offer. This scenario was already against policy, but still worked because it required an employee (in-store or chat) to enforce the rule by denying a price match first.

I have to wonder if one of the primary reasons for the program's change to auto-apply Circle offers is to prevent better-than-intended deals.

Only new "customers" get the welcome offers, and everybody gets price hikes branded as inflationary or anti theft related

Right, same kind of hypersensitive focus groups will probably try to rename "Target" one day.

Well, they said no more clipping and that Target Circle Deals would be automatic, but as of now at 12:10 midnight PDT, you still have to clip the Circle Deals, and there is still a limit of 75 coupons. Also, some items like videos games are currently showing up as $149.99 on sale, when they should be $39.99 on sale.

I haven't really used my RedCard since the first couple of times. It seems like their Circle offers are getting progressively worse over time. They were frequently giving me $10 off $50 promotions or Circle reward offers with a similar buy in (buy $50, get $10 in rewards back). Lately the spending requirements are just ridiculous (spend $90 3x to get $30 back).

As for the paid Circle 360, even at $49 it's a no buy for me if the deals just aren't there. The least they can do if they're going to create a Prime/Walmart Plus clone is throw in an "ad supported" streaming service subscription as an added feature. That way at least if you don't use the shipping discounts or anything else there's some value to the program.

Unless they've changed it (finally) you can still price match and any promotions in the system should automatically apply on TOP of the price match. That's YMMV though, especially if you get a stickler for policy.
