Hell of a risk to be taking on a three year old machine with such a small amount of RAM and SSD. That means the SSD has been used as virtual RAM, in addition to being a storage device. Unless you can find someone to replace the SSD (not an easy feat on these machines), I'd steer clear. Rolling the dice on your data is never a smart idea.
I have been using my SSD for 4 years and 24/7 for torrents. You can imagine amount reads and writes it goes through. I doubt something is going to happen to SSD and RAM lol. The shame is on you if you don't have a backup plan for your important data

That's not even to mention the recently disclosed unpatchable M1 vulnerability.

Doesn't that vulnerability apply to all M chips? "Researchers discovered that the DMPs in Apple's Silicon chipsets – M1, M2 and, M3 – can give hackers access to sensitive information, like secret encryption keys."
Click the BestBuy link, scroll down to Features, directly above that click the "Full Specs" blue button, at the bottom of that list it shows 90 days parts and labor warranty.

Yes, I believe you are correct. Sorry, not trying to single out M1.
Can someone comment about the GeekSquad Refurbished experience?
My assumption is these cant be too bad right? its not like you have more than the bestbuy return period to overuse these machines and the ssds and batteries take proper years upon years of use to degrade. If you get this, I would double check the battery cycles, check for stuck pixels and find some utility to check the ssd writes. Someone else can chime in on additional things to check, but its most likely buyers remorse for most returns that are resold. Actual malfunctioning things are usually sent back to the manufacturer and not resold.
I got in on this deal when it was $584.99 a few weeks ago - it arrived overnight, laptop looks brand new, brand new charger/cable, and has an active AppleCare+ Plan through August 2024 (YMMV).
Traded in my base model 2018 i5, paid $175 after taxes.
