I doubt you'll actually need to carry around either the 1/4" tools or the SAE sockets for roadside use, but it is what it is, just like the presence or absence of the quick-release.
The blowmolded case for one of my car sets has recently become sanctified because the spouse has no respect for emergency tools, and it got left in full sun via rear window too long. Unfortunately, spending $30 on a new set really isn't the sustainable solution to this problem.
