These have been free every year (the Friday practice day) but it's also always worth going if you're in the area especially if you have kids. Just be ready that it's a fair type setup, so they will nickel and dime you for everything beyond seeing the cars/races.

is it still worth going if i arrive at 6PM on friday or should i go for an all day thing

I've gone three times already and Friday's are mostly practice runs. Still fun to watch cars driving fast. I personally wouldn't go all day since I know what happens on those Fridays. However, if that is the only day you are able to go, check out the convention center and try out some of the racing sims they have in there. I usually would go back and forward depending what I wanted to see and stay cool since it usually gets hot out there.

A couple of years ago, I did both Saturday and Sunday all day and it was fun but very tiring.

yea i was just trying to see if it was worth going for the free day if i can only come late. i would like to go sat/sun but man those prices are expensive (for a small family)
