After a few years of trying I finally convinced my wife to go to the range with me a year ago. The local range is an indoor range that's rifle approved. Went at what's usually a slow time but they were pretty busy...and of course...to the left someone with a SBR AR and to the right someone with a snubnose magnum.

Needless to say was not a great experience for her...she's pretty noise sensitive and that was...a lot.
I have a neighbor who purchased her first weapon and went once to an indoor range, then never again due to the noise. Years later, after a lot of convincing, I took her to my outside range and she now loves shooting.

I always bring beginners to an outdoor range. I try to make it at a slow time, on a nice warm day and then I start them on 22 rifle at the "22 only area", regardless of what they want to ultimately shoot.

Maybe try your wife again that way... Good luck!

I've not been impressed with my Walker earmuffs to hunt in - no stereo is pretty lame. Decent sound protection I guess, but I'd take Howard Leight any day. These Savior earmuffs [amazon.com] (I bought them the other day when they were on sale for $17.99 - GREAT deal!) are almost just like Howard Leight's quality but are even more comfortable and have great stereo sound.
Those Saviors look pretty nice, but now at $40... so I think you got a good deal!

For $40, I would spend a little more to get the name brand Howard Leights . I am always wary of new products where safety is concerned.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a non-electronic, standard muffs for someone that needs to spend a lot of time next a constant, loud whirring sound? (think of a VERY high pitched plane engine)
The scientific way is to have your company safety director or industrial hygienist provide you with the frequency of the noise and the sound power at each frequency. Not just a generic "140dB" since that is virtually meaningless. Your company most likely has this and provides it to OSHA during inspections.

Once you have the that info, I would call 3M (or another well known mfgr), and have them match the protection to the frequency and sound power levels.

Unscientifically, high pitches are very directional and easily bounced by hard objects, so if it's possible, put a physical barrier up, and get some high NRR over the ear 3Ms with a hard shell (Like 30 or over NRR). This doesn't guarantee anything of course, but better than nothing. Here's an example: https://www.amazon.com/3M-Peltor-...B00CPCHBCQ

Also note that noise cancelling devices might help in this situation if the noise is constant and generally the same frequency. I would only use them as a supplement to the over the ear muffs.

True. My Howard Leights are excellent and well worth the money.

Most are about this much anyway, you gotta pair them with ear plugs to get a real benefit.

This. Use earplugs too!
ALSO I have these and the aliexpress $16 pair. They are nearly identical minus BT. PLUS the ali's come with a really nice hard case.

I'm nearly certain such a decision to "discriminate" is more a business decision than a rights issue.

Insurance companies and lawyers set policies that you a business owner have to pay for (or not). I doubt the gun deals brings in enough to pay for the increased risk. I certainly could be wrong, but I see business (usually) make more decisions based on money than rights.

If I am correct, you probably need to take this up with their choice of insurance company, or other such risk mitigation decisions (legal?). If I am wrong, my apologies for misrepresenting my opinion due to limited knowledge.
I'm pretty sure it's more a matter of sponsors. Many don't want to market on a site that supports firearms rights. I think that's the most common reason discussion gets squashed across the web.

Found these at Bass pro shop but they wouldn't price match. $129.99 at Bass Pro. Seems slick for the Bluetooth model.

I'm not too big into guns, but I respect their right to ask these questions.

There's no reason why they can't ask or promote such reasonable questions, and acting like they should be shunned for asking questions is ridiculous.

Wait... They're being rude? But they said Cheers? So confused, lol. Oh wait I get it, that person is obviously smarter than us so they came to the comment section of an item they have no interest in to let us know their elite position of being above "bang bang" (I dont want to offend {insert pronoun here} with the actual word, I know they can hurt) owners. Thanks for putting us in our place. lol.

Why aren't there more mentions of the new Saviors here? I have a few pairs of the Walker Razor Slims, but the Saviors have been so good the Saviors have completely replaced the Walkers in my bag. I was able to grab multiple pairs of them at the intro pricing, but I still would buy them at $40 over Walkers.

The Saviors have way better audio and it sounds much more natural, unlike the Walkers mono audio. Plus, they come with gel pads so you're not spending another $20 for gel or more for Noise Fighters. Btw, if you already have Noise Fighters for the Walker Razor slims they do fit the Saviors if you need that extra notch for your glasses. Just replace the Savior pads, no need to pull them off the plastic.
